In celebration of 40 years since the Rebbe’s miraculous recovery on Rosh Chodesh Kislev, a Mitzvah Tank parade is being planned to drive around the streets of New York City.
Forty Mitzvah Tanks will parade on Sunday, Rosh Chodesh Kislev – November 19, 2017 to encourage local Jews to do Mitzvos, as has been the Chabad outreach tradition.
The parade will coincide with the International Kinus Hashluchim and the plan is for each Mitzvah Tank to represent another country in which the Rebbe’s Shluchim have operated.
The parade is being organized by bochurim in Yeshiva Tomchei Tmimim Lubavitch – 770: Mendy Barber, Yigal Bigun, Sruli Blotner, Zalman Braun, Shmuly Butler, Yair Cohen, Shammai Eidelman, Avraham Moshe Hanoka, Mendel Gansburg, Mendel Goldberg, Shmuly Shochat, Mendel Gurary, Mendy Hirsch, Sholom Lazar, Shmuli Laufer, Mendel Mintz, Levi Naparstek, Mendel Raskin, Yoel Serebryanski, and Avremel Yusewitz.
It is being held in conjunction with the Mitzva Tank Office, directed by Rabbi Mordy Hersch and Rabbi Moshe Schmukler, under the auspices of the Lubavitch Youth Organization.
The project is being done in a complete “L’chatchile Ariber” budget, the organizers said. A GoFundMe campaign is asking the public to participate in the costs of the parade.
Ahead of the parade, 6 Shluchim spoke of the upcoming Mitzvah Tank Parade:
