Tragic. news; lost a great mencsh; loved all Yidden.. Hashem should strengthen his family.
Rabbi Trenk taught me the meaning of learning. He was angel from heaven. I remember one time I went to see him in his Sukkah. Sitting down at the table wearing his white coat. Looked like a angel from heaven. I am proud to call my self one of his students. He gave his heart and soul to his Talmidim. Good bye Rebbe. RYC
Reb Chaim was a Belzer Chasid with A special Love to Lubavitch,
When The Belzer Rebbe Came to Crown heights you Could see How much he appreciated Living here
BH
I grew up with Reb Chaim, I remember his davening in the belzer Shitbel, the fiery davening, the incredible warmth of the way he would treat us kids, with genuine love, the way he read from the Torah. All these things will never be forgotten, they left a permanent imprint on my life. Though he may us not had much of materiel wealth he was a treasure of Yiras Shomayim, a wealth of warm ahavas yisroel.
Anyone who went to Shimshon, knew Rabbi Trenk. What a g’valdika mensch.Rabbi Trenk never looked at a woman, other than his wife. Whereas this might be offensive to some, and would have certainly have been to me, his larger than life presence, his outpouring of love for another Jew, was so sincere, it made it a none issue. He took you in, man or woman, with love and respect. Zecher Tzadik L’vrocha
Will never forget his chayus on simchas torah in Belzer shteibl. He uplifted the entire crowd with his hilarious antics.
Dear Reb Naftoli Hertz and family,
So sad to hear this news. Be strong at this time.
Rabbi Yossi Jacobson from Des Moines Iowa.
The Trenks lived in Crown Heights for many years. Their house was always open to all and they always had a house full of guests who were treated regally! All types of yidden were considered equal in their home. They were old time, true yidden with the right values! His neshama should have an Aliya.
Well said, beautiful !!!
Condolences to the family. I heard wonderful stories of their hachnasas orchim; he was a great mentor
reb chaim has 2 legendary brothers reb zev in darkei and reb dovid ( adelphia ) reb chaim lived and refused to leave crown heights until he needed to be helped , he wasnt lubavitch per se but he valued the idealism of the rebbe, his only son went to ohelei torah and is currently a rebbe in gan yisroel. shimshon stock partnered with reb chaim and did mitzvos together, he was known for an extreme dikduk hamitzvos , a yid with a chassidishe bren for mitzvos. reb chaim was part of an elite group of ovdei hashem like the… Read more »

Rabbi Trenk was a true Jew all around and nice and kind
May his neshama have an aliyah! Moshiach now!
He used to read at “Kollel Minyan” in the basement at Montgomery St. and Brooklyn Av. The earliest Shabbat minyan in the neighborhood. I always attended. When he read Haftarat Hazon and Eicha he cried so much that he couldn’t continue. I visited him on one Sunday morning at his apartment. I asked him why he gets so emotional. He said that is in his father’s merit. He told me that his father did not shave like everybody else. He used “awful” depilatory paste. He opened his store on Sundays and had to pay a fine of $5. The judge castigated… Read more »
