Chief Rabbi of Israel, Rabbi David Lau, addressed the Sydney community as part of his world wide tour.
Rabbi Lau is visiting Sydney as a guest of the Sydney Beth Din.
After his Sydney visit which concludes this Sunday, he will make his way to Melbourne, Los Angeles and then New York, before returning to Israel.
Rabbi Reuven Klein, head of the Sydney Kollel, welcomed Rabbi Lau and thanked him for making the effort to come all the way “Down Under.”
Rabbi Lau addressed the crowd with a warm welcome and then started a Pilpul from a section of Baba Kamma.
After his address, he met with the bochurim from the Tzemach Tzedek Smicha program and tested them on what they are currently learning. He also added some hints on how to make the most of the Smicha process and some ideas in the subjects they are currently learning.
The bochurim were inspired by what Rabbi Lau said, later suggesting that “perhaps we should implement his changes to the program,” said Mayer Brook.
“It was a great honor and privilege to have the Chief Rabbi of Israel come to Sydney and address the community,” said Benjamin Amzalak, President of Tzemach Tzedek Community Center.
