Scores of Rabbis, elected officials, community members and Lubavitchers from around the country, came to comfort the Shluchim of Rishon L’Tzion on the passing of their wife and mother and beloved community leader.
Rabbi Eliyahu Segal and his 9 children have been sitting Shiva after the passing of Mrs. Chana Segal, who tragically passed away at the age of 40 from a terrible illness.
The deep impact that Mrs. Segal had on the community was evident as locals from all diverse backgrounds came to comfort the family and share memories.
In return, they received strength from Rabbi Segal himself, who is steadfast in his faith in G-d and resolve to continue his and his late wife’s Shlichus, which includes the construction of a 770 replica for their Chabad center.
Among the visitors, were Israel’s Chief Rabbi David Lau, Jerusalem’s Chief Rabbi Shlomo Amar, Chair of the Chabad Beis Din in Israel Rabbi Yitchok Yehuda Yaroslavsky, Chair of Agudas Chasidei Chabad in Israel Rabbi Yosef Aharonov, and Chairman of Israel’s coalition government David Bitton.
During Rabbi Lau’s visit, as he was comforting the family, the youngest orphan, a one and a half year old boy, was playing nearby. Rabbi Lau turned to the people around and asked, “I searched for a candy in my car before I came into the home, and couldn’t find one. Is there any candy here?” he asked.
When a lollipop was handed to him, he presented it to the young child in a moving gesture, which was an emotional moment for the people present.
A fund has been set up to support the family still reeling from their loss and the financial burden of medical bills and raising the children. Click here to donate.
