A glass bottle was hurled at the window of a school bus filled with children from a Jewish school in Crown Heights on Monday.
The bus was transporting elementary school aged girls from grades 3 – 8 of Bnos Menachem Girls School in Crown Heights.
The bus driver told police that a little after 4:00 pm, the bus was at the intersection of Union Street and Utica Avenue, when a black male passerby became angry and began gesturing at the driver for inching up towards the crosswalk.
As the bus pulled away, the children on the bus were startled by a loud crash as what appeared to be a glass bottle hit the fourth window from the front, shattering the window and causing glass to fall inside the bus.
Thankfully none of the students were injured, and the driver proceeded to drop the children off at their bus stops.
The incident is being investigated as a possible hate crime, a source from the NYPD 71st Precinct told COLlive.com.
“The safety of our students is our number one priority,” an administrator at Bnos Menachem told COLlive. “We are grateful that the police are diligently working to find the perpetrator. Thankfully we have dash cameras on all our buses, which we will be handing to the police to hopefully help them find the person who did this.”
A stone was thrown on my face from a building , yesterday! Ten years ago, the same thing!
May Hashem watch over all the Yuidden and keep them safe from harm, in revealed and open ways
We want Moshiach NOW
Attacking a bus full of school girls, should be a classified as a hate crime!
May it be the will of the Abishter to make the limbs of the enemy go limp as anger builds in the heart. May we go in safety to do what we are called to do.
