Rabbi lazar
August 10, 2017 6:49 pm

From the fact that rabbi Lazar has made it a point to let people know that this year there is a esrogim shortage, makes me believe there is a real problem. Rabbi Lazar is a chasuve Shliach in italy for close to 50 years, he has a lot better things to do then to spread false rumors about the esrogim harvest of this year. This information isn’t coming from one of the people selling outside 770 on a folding table.

Sign of Moshiach !!
August 9, 2017 10:26 am

I’m surprised no one mentioned this yet.. Just read this article and all I could think is what a PERFECT and ABSOLUTE sign of Moshiach that the BEST most MHUDAR WAY to do this precious Mitzva is an issue.. Must be a sign that Moshiach will long be here before it is time to bentch Lulav and Esrog, which will obviously spin around any and all worldly restraints from getting in the way of Koyum a Torah and Mitzvos b’hidur !
Looking forward to the GRANDEST SUCCOS in the history of creation 🙂 🙂

Love it

The first people who are raising the prices are the farmers. They need to make enough money this year with the few esrogim that will hopefully grow. It is known that calabria esrogim in crown heights are a fraction of the price than in Williams burg. That is why u see them coming in masses… no…don’t think anyone will make too much money this year. ..

Truth

For the nonbelievers!
It will come after rosh Hashanah and you will see:
Only a handful of people, will have a couple of Italian Esrogim for sale – that the public can choose. Most of the Italian Esrogim will be put away for cash paying customers.

It is now 100 degrees in Calabria, and whatever flowers turned into Esrogim, the Esrogim fell of the tree, before the oketz was strong enough to let the Esrog stay on the tree.
So this year, instead of there being 100 farms to choose Esrogim, there are only 10 to 20 farms with Esrogim.

of course prices will be affected, but

the farmers and dealers didn’t plan this; the Aibershter did. gam zeh ya’avor. as long as they don’t continue asking insane prices when the crop is good, we’ll get past this.

answer to number 11

i heard personaly from Rabbi Lazar that he himself asked this question to Rabbi Jacobson in 1964 and he answered that the tree chozer leshorsho!! that means that it goes back to be a esrog 100%
thank you and a gut yom tov!

Kosher????
August 8, 2017 1:24 pm

The trees are inspected to make sure they are not grafted (Murkavim). But, how about the trees that were planted from branches of grafted trees? Such trees are not kosher, yet it is impossible to check it.

Many years ago I asked this question to Rabbi Osdoba and he told me to use only Etrogim from Kfar Chabad.

Ridiculous

What do you people think, Rabbi Lazar made up the weather reports?! Faked the photos?! You think there’s really lots of fruit but they’re being hidden somewhere? You’re nuts, all of you. Everyone knows that every so often a frost comes along and kills the citrus crop; it happens in Florida every ten years or so. So why would you think it didn’t happen in Calabria. A lemon is not an option. If you bench on a lemon you will be making a brocho levatolo. It’s just like putting a paper mezuzah on your door, or wearing plastic tefilin because… Read more »

why are smart people so feverish
August 8, 2017 12:37 pm

this is ploy to raise prices? an industry wide conspiracy? I can’t believe I’m reading those ideas on a local website. just crazy talk.

It’s right up there with CH landlords and flippers are the reason rents are high or that we can all just move together to nebraska for affordable houses even though there aren’t any jobs there

but this fever is the most disappointing of all

I'm buying kfar chabad
August 8, 2017 12:02 pm

This is a great ploy to increase Calabria prices. I’m buying Kfar chabad this year!

wow that's great get ready for lower prices
August 8, 2017 12:02 pm

damaged goods demand lower prices
now everyone can afford Italian esrogim
(Lemons)

yup
August 8, 2017 11:59 am

just as you thought in the last few years so many people are selling esrogim that there are too many sellers and product an too few people buying them this is their way of getting people to 1 pay more to make up for less sales and 2 make people purchase earlier instead of waiting for last minute bargains.

Price hike
August 8, 2017 10:46 am

Get ready for extra high prices

Very Inreresting.
August 8, 2017 9:57 am

Just in time for Succos and a chance to raise prices. Buy Kfar Chabad Esrogim much cheaper and good quality.

Okay
August 8, 2017 9:00 am

Is this a possible scam to start warning people it’s going to be triple the price this year because in that case I will use a lemon

hmmmm
August 8, 2017 8:57 am

just an excuse for a price increase?
