The Noam HaMeiri School for girls in Lod, Israel, will be opening its doors on Monday morning despite being on summer break.
Faculty, parents, and students are expected to arrive and spend the time honoring the memory of the beloved first and second grade teacher, Chaya Solomon.
Solomon, 46, was one of the people murdered during a Shabbos meal this past Friday night by an Arab terrorist in her parents home.
The bloody attack carried out with a knife happened as Solomon, her parents, siblings, nieces, and nephews were spending Shabbos in the frum village of Halamish, also known as Neveh Tzuf.
“It is difficult to speak about Chaya in past tense,” said the school’s principal, Asher Hadad. “She was a great educator who never rested and who was always in the midst of educational activity.”
Solomon, who also coordinated the school trips, was respected by students and colleagues alike. In fact, she was awarded “teacher of the year” in a ceremony held 2 months ago.
“A despicable murder took a glorious teacher from all of us,” said Ayelet Haba, whose eldest daughter studied with Solomon, describing her as “a sensitive teacher who cared for every girl and tried to be better and more worthy at every moment.”
Students emotionally read and shared the poem that Solomon would give her graduating students along with their report cards at the end of the school year.
“Dear student,
“When I give the report cards at the end of the semester, I am always reminded of another report card, almost like at school…
“It is given by our Father in Heaven, Who is everywhere. But instead of the regular subjects and exam grades, He gives grades in the following subjects:
“Friendliness, patience, understanding, love, kindness, responsibility, gratitude, humility.
“And that other report card is important, even more than any other grade. And not just once or twice a year, but every moment that passes.
“Because many times during life we forget and forget again, that being a person with good midos (good character traits) is the real test of life!
“Good luck, Teacher Chaya.”
these murderers are followers of molech and have never and will never and are incapable of learning any morality. They only understand one language, the language of power and strength. They should be obliterated and every moment they are alive, they are sotons people, raw evil, no different than Nazis ymach”Shmam, spreading pain, agony and heartache. They are “pins in our eyes and thorns in our sides” We are too weak and too golus minded to do what has to be done, May Hashem have rachmanus on His children and may He utterly and completely destroy them tachas ha shamayim… Read more »
ENOUGH!!! Moshiach Now!!!
I feel very proud as a Jew to have read moreh chaya’s poem/message to her class. I think it (and the simple gruesome story of her demise), should be mass published, and especially distributed to the killer and his people and greater Muslim world. Some how, we probably need to teach the Muslims that human life is sacred, people are an image of hashem, a reason why not to desecrate a human, so as not to desecrate an image of hashem.
No more Golus! No more suffering No more pain No more sickness No more sorrow No more sinning No more troubles No more enemies No more wars No more jealousy No more lousy politics No more darkness No more dying.. Yes more light Yes more Torah Yes more G-dliness Yes more holiness Yes more Mitzvos Yes more happiness Yes more delight Yes more Simchos Yes more unity Yes more peace Yes life forever Yes brotherly love Yes more joy Yes more light Yes more fulfillment Yes more accomplishments Yes more and more and more blessings AD BLI DAI !!! Even focusing on one of them. With sincerity.
That poem is so special, sign of a true educator.
Hy’d
And moshiach now…
What a beautiful nashama that we should incorporate those same words she left for her students and also become a student of these same actual middos words that can change our own environment by bringing light into this confused and out of control world..Biz”H!
