Jewish music star Gad Elbaz was flying back home to New York this past Friday, having successfully headlined a memorable concert at Fillmore Miami Beach at the Jackie Gleason Theater.
Elbaz appeared alongside singer Shuky in a spectacular evening of music and entertainment celebrating 50 years since the holy city of Jerusalem was reunited.
Friday morning, he boarded a flight to New York with his manager Shlomi Cohen. “We took a connecting flight through Pittsburgh and the flight was delayed,” Elbaz told COLlive.com.
“It got to a point when it was clear that if we board the flight we would be flying into Shabbos, so we realized we had to spend Shabbos in Pittsburgh,” he said.
Coming to their rescue were Rabbi Mendy and Batya Rosenblum, Shluchim of Chabad of the South Hills, located in Mt. Lebanon, PA.
With only an hour or so until Shabbos, the Rosenblums opened their home, providing accommodations to the group of 3, who joined the family for meals and the Chabad center congregation for prayers.
“I must share with you how amazing their hospitality was,” Elbaz related. “It just felt like home. I got to know an amazing family, whose main goal is to bring more Judaism to their city.”
Elbaz said the Rosenblum family “treated me, my manager and his brother like kings. They truly follow the Rebbe’s words that every Jew is important.”

I’ve known her since we were both young girls, and she leads the path to Moshiach, always in her humble, smiling way. Go Batya! May Hashem bless you and your family with health, wealth and happiness!
