At least seven people were injured Sunday afternoon after a brushfire, which broke out in an open area near the northern city of Tzfat, spread to a residential area, burning buildings and forcing residents to evacuate.
Residents of the Maaleh Cnaan neighborhood in the northern Galilee city were forced to flee after the fire approached homes.
Seven people were treated for fire-related injuries. MDA emergency medical responders evacuated the injured to Ziv Hospital in Tzfat, All seven have been listed in light condition.
Firefighters working to contain the blaze say they believe a woman may be trapped inside one of the buildings that caught fire. Units at the scene are attempting to locate and rescue the woman.
A total of four buildings and numerous vehicles have been damaged or destroyed by the fire.
Six firefighting teams have been deployed to the Maaleh Cnaan neighborhood, and police are evacuating residents from their homes. An firefighting planes are also taking part in the efforts to contain the blaze.
An earlier brushfire forced evacuations in the town of Beit El Sunday afternoon. At least three people suffered smoke inhalation.
Israel is suffering a dry heat spell, causing the rapid spreading of brushfires.
