A new Chabad couple were announced as joining the ranks of Shlichus on the day of Gimmel Tammuz, the Rebbe’s yahrtzeit.
Rabbi Chaim Shaul and Sarale Rivkin will be founding Chabad or Kirkland, a vibrant waterfront destination located on the shores of Lake Washington just east of Seattle, Washington.
The Rivkins, along with their baby boy Mendel, will be serving some 3,000 Jewish people in the Puget Sound region and the business people that come visit throughout the year.
“We are planning to meet as many people as we can through house visitations, Mivtzoim on the streets and at local summer events,” said Rabbi Rivkin who was born in the Kfar Chabad village in Israel.
The area won’t be foreign to them as Mrs. Rivkin was raised across Lake Washington in the city of Bellevue where her parents Rabbi Mordechai and Rochel Farkash lead the Eastside Torah Center – Chabad.
Her grandfather is Rabbi Sholom Ber Levitin, Head Shliach of the State of Washington.
Rabbi Rivkin told COLlive.com that they plan on hosting Shabbos meals for local visitors and families and will soon begin advertising the upcoming High Holidays services.
“We are very excited to head out on the Rebbe’s Shlichus,” he says. “We hope to meet as many people as we can to join our upcoming events, such as Mommy and Me, Tefillin Club and Mezuzah campaign.”
