Fathers and sons came together Sunday, in Morristown, NJ to celebrate the end to another fantastic year at Cheder Lubavitch.
The very popular Avos U’Banim program held each Motzei Shabbos in the fall and winter, and led by R’ Chaim Schapiro a Cheder father, held its annual Avos U’Banim Learning and Barbeque event.
Boys learned sichos about Shavuous with their fathers. The simcha and chayus in the Berger Auditorium, together with the chassidishe sichos and discussions, surely were a great hachana for Kabalas HaTorah.
After the learning, boys were treated to a Silk Screen Painting workshop led by R’ Yitzchok Moully, also a Cheder father. The Talmidim created masterful pieces of art. The Cheder recognizes the importance of giving boys the opportunity for self-expression and creativity. Rabbi Moully was thanked for using paint on canvas to bring out each student’s potential.
Cradling their new artwork, fathers and sons walked down to the picnic area for a grand barbeque. R’ Baruch Hecht, another proud father, led the school in the 12 Psukim.
After bentching, and words from the Menahel R’ Aharon Wilschanski, it was time for sports. The older grades played soccer against their fathers, and the younger grades faced off on the baseball diamond.
Yasher koach to all those who made the event a success, and a message to the fathers: the boys want a rematch next year!
