A group of handpicked Bochrim from the Mesivta in New Haven, enjoyed a day in Newport Rhode Island; a city which boasts some of the country’s most beautiful sites.
Some 25 Bochrim were rewarded with a full day trip to Newport. In addition to the splendor of its bays, mansions, and Its relaxing New England architecture, it is the ground for the oldest Shul in America “Touro Synagogue”.
The project was aranged by the Yeshiva’s Shluchim, as a reward to those who excelled in a five month long Mivtza. The Bochrim excelled in the weekly Sichos of 5752 – the last year of Sichos which we were Zoiche to hear from the Rebbe L’eis Ato.
These Sichos are widely known for the Rebbe’s revolutionary call to do all we can to bring Moshiach.
The well earned trip, included a guided tour of Touro synagogue, biking along the mansions and the ocean, a ferry tour of the harbor dotted with sail boats, passing by fort Adams and some of the most beautiful estates. Including one where John F. Kennedy as president of the US would vacation in, during the summer.
The Bochrim then headed over to Brenton Point State Park where they enjoyed a barbecue.
In addition to the grand trip which concluded the Mivtza, the Bochrim were treated with various events and prizes throughout the year.
“This is a trip which I’ll remember for years to come,” relates Menachem Cadaner, one of the Bochrim who excelled in the Nun Beis Mivtza.
The trip would have not been possible without the generous help of Avi Meer, a resident of the New Haven community, the inspiration behind the Bochrim’s Koch in Nun Beis.
A special thank you is due to Chabad of Rhode Island for their tremendous help with the trips logistics.
This article would be incomplete without thanking Rabbi Yosef Lustig, the Menahel of the Yeshiva, for his countiues support in making this trip a realty.
