Chabad Mechanchim and Mechanchos from around the world will gather in Crown Heights for three days starting on Gimmel Tammuz to recharge, reconnect and learn new skills at the annual Chabad Chinuch Convention.
Everyone needs a lift from time to time, and for educators, the summertime is the ideal opportunity.
This year, starting on ג’ – ה’ תמוז (June 27-29), in two separate programs, Mechanchim and Mechanchos, will gather in Crown Heights at the annual Kinus Mechanchei Chabad to draw strength and inspiration for their Shlichus of Chinuch.
This year’s Convention theme is “K’ilu Yilado”, inspired by the Gemara’s teaching that כל המלמד את בן חבירו תורה מעלה עליו הכתוב כאילו ילדו – someone who teaches a child Torah is considered as though he gave birth to them. The Rebbe elaborates that as Chassidishe Mechanchim we have the ability to “birth” a new generation of נרות להאיר.
The Chabad Chinuch Convention will run two separate and concurrent programs for men and women. Rabbi Yitzchok Wolf of Cheder Lubavitch, Chicago, will be chairing the Men’s kinus, while Mrs. Shana Teichtel of Bais Rivkah High School, Crown Heights, will be chairing the women’s kinus.
Rabbi Pinny Rapoport, a 5th Grade teacher at Oholei Torah, says that last year’s kinus was “a true example of Chassidim getting together to benefit others. Through farbrenging together, recommitting ourselves to the shlichus of chinuch, and developing our skills as mechanchim, we were able to go back to our classrooms with renewed chayus and tools to educate the next generation of Chassidim.”
The highlights of the convention include: a gala banquet and farbrengen, presentation of the Chinuch Awards, and a variety of workshops, lectures and networking sessions. Friends, family and supporters of Mechanchim will be welcome to join the gala banquet, and the Chinuch Awards receptions.
