Women of all ages from all communities are invited tonight, Tuesday May 23rd, to the Levi Yitzchok Library for a preparation class for Shavuous with Rabbi Manis Friedman, who will be talking on the topic of “Is Frumkeit Getting in the Way of Yiddishkeit?”
Organizers are encouraging Crown Heights women to invite friends from other neighborhoods to the event, hoping to draw a diverse crowd from Williamsburg, Boro Park and Flatbush “to receive the Torah together as one like by Har Sinai,” says Fraida Glassner, who teaches Chassidus once a week to girls in Williamsburg. “Its oxegyn, it’s so needed, it’s so important, it’s such an awesome experience.”
Over the past six weeks, the library held a course led by Rabbi Manis Friedman on teaching Chassidus with the goal of matching girls from Crown Heights as chavrusas to teach those from outside communities in order to help spread the wellsprings of Chassidus. Women learned key definitions in Chassidus to understand its meaning in lay terms.
At tonight’s event participants can meet and sign up to teach or learn.
“We really hope to incubate the opportunity to excite people who are thirsty with Chassidus,” explains Glassner.
The event will be held tonight at 8 pm at LYL 305 Kingston Avenue.
