Shluchim Excited for Shopping Mall

A new theme park and shopping complex in Miami Lakes, FL will include plans for a shul and Mikvah, Shluchim Mendy and Tzippy Weiss said.

Within a few years, South Florida could be home to the largest indoor amusement park-mall in the country, bringing traffic, jobs and more people each year than Disney World’s Magic Kingdom.

The American Dream Miami indoor theme park, resort and mall is planned for the town of Miami Lakes, a 25 minute drive from Miami Beach, in an unincorporated wedge of northwest Miami-Dade County.

The tourist complex could house an indoor ski slope, water park, movie complex and hotels. The same group, developer Triple Five of the known Ghermezian family, is building an American Dream theme park-mall in New Jersey, and owns the Mall of America in Bloomington, Minn., and the West Edmonton Mall in Canada.

Miami Lakes Shluchim Rabbi Mendy and Tzippy Weiss are very involved in trying to get this project approved.

"It means lots of changes for the community, which we see as a good thing," Rabbi Mendy Weiss told COLlive. "It will mean people moving here for job opportunities, thousands of tourists, and growth from within," he said.

Included in the complex are plans for a beautiful Mikvah and a large Chabad Center serving locals and tourists, Weiss says. "The Lubavitch Educational Center is a 10 minute drive from here, and there have been many inquiries from families who would consider moving here while homes are still affordable," he says.

Kosher restaurants are in the initial planning stages to be part of the American Dream Miami Project as well.

"We're asking locals and those living out of town to help us get this amazing project going," says Tzippy Weiss.

"We truly believe that this project will assist in enabling the growth of this beautiful community and the surrounding neighborhood," Tzippy Weiss says. "Your signature will greatly help in the process for the final approvals."

"Any family who is considering a move to Miami and placing their children in LEC, may want to check out Miami Lakes," Weiss says. "The opportunities are great here."
