A Democrat in New York City by the name of Thomas Lopez-Pierre is running for the city council, and he’s running on the notion that people in the 7th district are suffering because of Jewish landlords.
Lopez-Pierre’s Twitter feed is devoted to inflammatory statements against “greedy Jewish landlords,” which he’s made the centerpiece of his campaign.
Last August, Lopez-Pierre was blasted for inflammatory comments about the same subject.
While running against incumbent Mark Levine, he blasted out a fund-raising e-mail with the subject line “SAVE HARLEM from Greedy Jewish Landlords.”
“Greedy Landlords and NYC Council Member Mark Levine are working together to push Black and Hispanic tenants out of Harlem!” he wrote, going on to charge that Levine, “the only Jewish person in the race,” only won in 2013 because there were eight black and Hispanic candidates running against him.
In the 2016 race, City Council Speaker Melissa Mark-Viverito, Controller Scott Stringer, Public Advocate Letitia James, Rep. Jerry Nadler and others penned a letter to Lopez-Pierre demanding he apologize.
“Such rhetoric has no place in our society, and certainly does not belong in a political campaign,” they wrote.

Accurate and true! Landlords need to raise the price because mortgages are sky high and interest is sky high. We own an 8 family building in crown heights and years and years and have yet to see the peiros – till then we struggle constantly.

My landlord happens to be wonderful and does not charge me extortionate prices.

The cost of housing, buying and renting, has gotten out of control. Look at Crown Heights. Who has been raising the cost of housing?
