Kingston Falafel is back – with more than chickpeas.
The short-lived food joint in Crown Heights was reopened on Wednesday as Baguette Express II, a fast-food take-out restaurant specializing in chicken and meat sandwiches.
The new store located in a narrow storefront can seat 7 people and will focus mainly on take-out. They have already began serving juicy burgers, grilled chicken, salads and of course, falafel balls.
Located at 250 Kingston Avenue corner S. Johns Place, they join a growing foodie block with Basil Pizza & Wine Bar (dairy), Beuf & Bun (meat) and the new Calabria Pizza (dairy).
“This is a soft opening,” says the owner Shmuly Mizrahi, who is also a partner with his father Uzi Mizrahi of the original store Baguette Express at 1013 East 14 Street in Brooklyn.
“I have lots of Chabad guys that come to Flatbush and they have helped us find a place in Crown Heights,” Shmuly Mizrahi told COLlive.com. “They were waiting for us to open here.”
While the Flatbush location is under the Kehillah Kashrus serving Beit Yosef shechita meat, the new Crown Heights location will strictly be serving Lubavitch shechita under the supervision of CHK (Badatz – Crown Heights Kosher).
Mizrahi is especially excited to introduce his father’s staple “Crazy Uzi Shnitzel,” a delicious sandwich with chicken schnitzel and grilled pastrami. His uncle Gabi Mizrachi will be the store manager.
He said they are planning a grand opening after Pesach when their kitchen will begin serving their full menu of shawarma, sandwiches, wraps, salads and soups.

Ate here before chag, fantastic service and food!
This place is a blessing in disguise!! I don’t feel homesick anymore! The food is not only amazing but fresh everyday! I can’t wait for pesach to be over so their full menu will be ready to enjoy! Compared to other kosher meat places their portions are unbelievable and prices are even better! I’m recommending this place to EVERYONE! You will NOT be disappointed.
mr turnik pizza, Kingston ave between Crown and Montgomery
[location of flors book store?]
oiy, memories
I don’t know of any kosher pizza store on Utica Ave. between Crown and Carroll? When did that happen? Does it really exist? Please tell all..
It is truly gratifying to see how many places there are to eat in Crown Heights. In it’s “hay-days” back in the sixties the area had a total of 3 resturants ( Meat- Shmiel Rosenbaum on Kingston & President and one on Albany & Eastern Parkway, Dairy-Spritzer & Cohen on Kingston near Union, and three pizza shops-Chaim’s on Nostrand near Montgomery, Chopsie & Nafatli-one on Kingston near Empire and one on Utica between Crown & Carroll. Today we have about fifteen, still growing, and many are attracting customers from all over the metropolitan area.
Very interested in trying it out, Schoyach!
Tried the falafel store. Their stuff was good. So glad this new store has chk hashgacha and will also serve falafel
Eat frequently in Baguette Express in Flatbush. Super excited they opened in CH.
I had gone to Izzys for a while only to find out that almost none of their chicken/meat is Lubavitch
Happy to know here it will be Lubavitch
Tried this place once when it opened and swore I’d never go back.
But this is a TOTALLY different story, if its anything like the Flatbush location they will need to expand!
very exciting news!!
