Still can't understand
June 18, 2017 9:46 pm

I admire the Rabbi for his faith. I was not born with the gift of faith. Born after the holocaust, I’ve studied it, visited Auschwitz and Dachau, visited the Baltic States and forests where Jews were gunned down and massacred and cannot understand how this could possible happen and if there is a god, how god could have forsaken his people especially such pious, humble and righteous people. Ehli, ehli, lama azavtani – o god why have you forsaken me – a poster in the Jewish museum in Riga. So true. But, again, all honor and respect to those that… Read more »

Thank you for this beautiful post. I am crying. This is proof of Netzach Yisrael lo yishaker.
May Rabbi Mangel live to 120 to continue to teach us.

I’m holding back tears as I read this. To come out of such an end-of-the-world experience with such a strong belief in Hashem is empowering. Never forget, and never let history repeat itself. If we can do one more mitzvah for ourselves and for others, and if we can continue strengthening our connection to Hashem, we still won’t come close to this man’s level of connection.

Best Holocaust story

My mother, A”H, also a Holocaust survivor – I let her hear Rabbi Mangel’s recorded lecture of his experience. She said, This is the best Holocuast story I ever heard. Such a little boy going through all this.”

I always admired rabbi mangel and his writing and teaching. But now I know that he is a combination of Chabad chasidud with Oiberlandisher faith in Hashem.

Thank you Rabbi Mangel for telling your story, and having it recorded .
And thank you Laibel Mangel for doing this write up.
We need to hear more live speakers talk about their past. It is important. We must never forget.

Thank you for sharing your website with us. I wished all the Governments around this globe would make it part of their school system to teach the Holocaust in a more detailed way. Most of the time the Holocaust is barely mentioned especially in Germany.

Bais Rivka Seminary
March 17, 2017 7:49 am

My most memorable lecture of Rabbi Mangel’s in Bais Rivka seminary is exactly this story Rabbi Mangel ends within this article. It is the strongest message to our generation for bitachon. What atrocities those in the camps lived through! I don’t think we, who grew up in America, can ever comprehend the horors of the Holocaust. Thank you so much for sharing.

Gottenyu, the grandeur of this man

I keep deleting every sentence because I, with all my formal education, can’t think of anything to say that possibly comes close to how I feel right now. This is without doubt the most powerful account I have ever read.
