First Daughter Ivanka Trump and her husband Jared Kushner hosted members of President Donald Trump’s cabinet at their home Friday night for a “Shabbat dinner”, the Daily Mail reports.
In Jewish tradition, Shabbat is a weekly day of rest that begins Friday at sunset and ends Saturday after sunset.
According to the report, White House Director of Strategic Communications Hope Hicks, Trump’s nominee for the Department of Commerce Wilbur Ross and his wife Hilary Geary Ross, and Department of the Treasury nominee Steve Mnuchin and his fiancée Louise Linton were among the guests in attendance.
Also invited were Ivanka’s personal unofficial adviser Dina Habib Powell and husband Richard, and Gary Cohn, who is the former president of Goldman Sachs and President Trump’s chief adviser on the economy.
Chabad Rabbi Levi Shemtov and his wife Nechama were also seen at the residence Friday afternoon.
The couple recently moved into a new home in Washington DC’s Kalorama neighborhood, reportedly to be near the Chabad Shul.
GD really stepped in and to think how jareds grandparents were living in the forests. Did they ever ever think that such a miricle would be. May Hashem protect this family. Protect them Hashem for this is a huge miricle. Lubuvitch is so close to White House. Only good things for the world pg. Chana simcha
Hashem has truly blessed us with the whole family in the White House.
But some of the back & forth postings are about SMR’s situation and unfortunately not such private news.
You are correct that purchasing a home does not allow the 30 days for mezuzas that a renter would have, however many poskim hold that if you get a mortgage then you are technically not the owner, especially if you own less than 50%. (also note that even wealthy people often take our mortgages on homes)
the kushners are entitiled to their shabbos meal/ guests without the rest of us panting to find out who, what when, where, the menu, what she wore, what he wore etc. etc. etc.
let them be, and stop with the crude yenta shtick, please.
will have a surer chance of being released if we don’t flaunt this fight in the face of the miserable opposition; definitely better to go about this discreetly.
proud classmates:)
Number 19 is 100% correct. From someone who knows a little on the inside… Let people who are working on it do their job, the more noise you make, then CH”V the more likely…
In addition I fail to understand when you say that there is nothing good with keeping quiet? What was the Rebbe’s opinion on getting the Jews out of Russia??? Public rallies and protests or private diplomacy???
I remember hearing a sicha in which the Rebbe was opposed to big demonstrations in order to get something from Russia. The Rebbe said that quiet talks behind closed doors will do much more good. When things are done out loud, people tend to dig in their heels and double down because they are trying to protect their egos vdal.
I’m sure that you will make sure that they have mezuzos on their doors( seems to be lacking in the picture) . They bought their house so they require mezuzos immediately
Well said!!! Never forget…. the old saying goes”The squeaky wheel gets the grease”. Keep his name out there and show everyone the injustice that was done. That’s how you get attention and justice for R’Rubashkin. B”H
what a horrible comment to someone who cares ! maybe ur right ,maybe not , i’m no expert but the aggressive way u went about getting ur point across is not the way. As far as the family is concerned if this way my father everytime there is a comment or article i would be glad to see the support and that he isn’t forgotten. i for one very time i see a comment about him ( i do t know the family personally) it gives me a jolt and i resolve to say more tehillim for him and do… Read more »
Wow Shabbat dinner is tough enough with Jews….doing everything right, it’s DOUBLE hard with non Jews keeping things straight in my head. You go girl! I’m sure Jared helped alot
I always thought exactly the same thing
Please if you want Rubashkin go out of jail. Be quite just Daven and do Mitzvos on his zechus
Why won’t you let them lead their personal lives in privacy?
First off, you never get anything accomplished by keeping quiet. His case and all other information has been in the public domain and all over the internet since day one. As far as his legal team they also have given many interviews to the media over the years. I did not say that he was innocent or guilty of anything. What I am saying that the only way he can be released is if President Trump commutes his sentence to time served. Which would be a just thing to do at this time. President Trump is not a man who… Read more »
Rememner what Pirkei Ovos (2) warns us:
הוו זהירין ברשות, שאין מקרבין לו לאדם אלא לצורך עצמן. נראין כאוהבין בשעת הנאתן, ואין עומדין לו לאדם בשעת דחקו
As a person involved with Prison for many years, I can say that the more you and others post on websites and the more the Jewish tabloids write about him, the less his chances of getting out. Many high profile people including Obama before he was president, have accused Rubashkin of terrible things, they have been found to be wrong, which is known by anyone following the case, these people however will do everything to look write and keep him in prison. Chances are that If nothing was written about him in the past years, and more importantly nothing would… Read more »
Ivanka & jared r gr8 jews who will do wonders for this country & the world! Bh!! They have already done so much & r just a pleasure to have in wh
Beautiful!

Shhh. Looks like a Tomchei Shabbos package.
If we r such good friends with Trump when is he freeing Rubashkin?
Levi, your first priority with Jared needs to be to get Sholom Mordechai out!!!
Thank you and Hatzlocho!
The article gives the impression that they were also invited to the meal which is a pretty big deal but if you read carefully you will see that they were there on Friday afternoon to deliver something, they were not at the friday night meal.
uh..sure a lubavitcher in the white house…uh ya..almost
THat is great
haha!!!!
great one!
Almost a lubavitcher? Maybe he can pass as Chabad Lite.
Deplorables, of course. 🙂
Now that we finally have a president that loves and understands the Jews maybe justice will be done. Obama hated Jews and pardoned terrorists and drug dealers but not a Rabbi and husband and father of ten children..talk to Jared and ask him to speak to his father-in-law about R’rubashkin soon .he has been in prison long enough. B”H
Almost a lubavitcher in the white house!
#2 looks like the basket I think it’s Challah

Whats in the basket??
Very nice..good luck with the paparazzi
