Chassidim from around the world traveled to Ukraine last week to spend Shabbos at the Ohel resting place of the first Chabad Rebbe, Rabbi Schneur Zalman of Liadi, in the town of Haditch.
Despite the bitter cold, guests enjoyed comfortable accommodations thanks to the fully furnished shul built on-site by the late philanthropist Sami Rohr OBM and a Hachnosas Orchim lodging building run by the Deitsch family.
With the 24th of Teves, the day of the Alter Rebbe’s yartzeit, falling out on Sunday, some 450 men and even children made the trip to Ukraine from Israel, the United States.
Among the guests were mashpiim Rabbi Chaim Sholom Deitsch of Jerusalem, Rabbi Yosef Yitzchok Ofen of Jerusalem, Rabbi Zalman Landa of Bnei Brak who spoke for the crowd gathered.
A sizable group came from Crown Heights and others locations with the coordination of R’ Gershon Chaimson. Accompanying their trip was the renowned teacher Rabbi YY Jacobson of Monsey and Rabbi Aryeh Citron of Miami, FL.
The hours-long farbrengens in English, Yiddish and Hebrew had encouraged participants to strengthen themselves in the teachings and the ways of the Alter Rebbe and Chassidus Chabad.
