Camps Gan Israel and Pardes Chana in Brazil, founded 37 years ago under the leadership of Rabbi Dovid Weitman, are currently in the middle of a lively and exciting season.
Camp Pardes Chana is directed by Mrs. Marcia Eliezer and Mrs. Rivky Rosenfeld leads the teen girls camp. Rabbi Levi Weitman directs Gan Israel and Yeshivah Camp for boys.
Each year, each one of the divisions grow, attracting campers from diverse backgrounds, organizers say.
This year, the camp hosted children from other states such as Rio de Janeiro, Porto Alegre, Teresopolis, Santos and even outside the country of Brazil, like from the U.S. and Argentina.
This season, the camps were led by Head Counselors Dina Eliezer, Shterna Regen, Rachel Azulay and Naomi Malinas in Pardes Chana, and Mendy Nigri and Itzik Berge in Gan Israel.
Trips included a trip to a water park, bowling, camping and boating. Activities such as rope course, workshops on circus activities and professional coaching in various sports were immensely enjoyed by all.
The highlight of the season was the grand “color war”, held in each camp with great excitement and during which many lessons were learned in a fun and exciting way.
In an environment of joy and ahavat Israel, children of all backgrounds blended harmoniously. All campers and counselors alike had a great time and learned lessons lasting lifetime.
