In honor of Rosh Chodesh Kislev, when the Rebbe recovered from a heart attack on Simchas Torah 5738, the students of Hebrew Academy in Coral Springs Florida were in for a surprise.
During their regular assemblies with Rabbi Sheinberger and Mrs. Denburg, they heard the story of Rosh Chodesh Kislev.
However, instead of then returning to class, the students were invited into the gym for Hakafah-like dancing with a special Sefer Torah.
This Sefer Torah had survived the fires of Kristelnacht and remained hidden for many years until it was brought to America.
Last year, through the efforts of Jewish Learning Institute, it was rededicated, and the Torah travels the globe in the spirit of Hakhel, going from community to community.
“The students were delighted to have the merit to dance with such a Torah and relive the joy chassidim felt that first year in 5738,” said Rabbi Shloime Denburg of the Hebrew Academy staff.
This Torah was donated by a very close Yedid of Chabad – he is living right here in Miami Beach. Came full circle back to South Florida. DNS

Thank you shvigger!
What a wonderful way to celebrate this momentous occasion. I’m very proud of my daughter, son-in-law, and grandchildren, who all teach or attend the Hebrew Academy of Coral Springs.
