Rabbi Doctor Meir Elazar Kulski, a beloved figure in the Paris Chabad community, passed away on Thursday, 1 Kislev, 5777.
He was 79.
Dr. Kulski was among the first Baal Teshuvas to Chabad by the legendary Shliach Rabbi Muleh Azimov OBM, who was a close friend and mentor to him throughout his life.
Dr. Kulski asked advice from the Rebbe on whether his children should train to enter the medical field as well, and the Rebbe responded that just as you have the merit to help many Jews in France when they have medical problems, your children should have the same merit – but on the condition that during their medical training they take special care to adhere to the laws of Shabbos.
They followed the Rebbe’s advice, and his three children are all doctors in Paris.
He is survived by his wife Leah Perl Kulski and their children Dr. Moshe Kulski, Dr. Shmuel Kulski and Dr. Yitzchok Kulski, all of Paris.
The Levaya will take place today, Friday, 12:00 pm: Reading Tehilim in his home 22 rue de Lisbonne 75008 (3rd floor). 12:45 pm Levaya – Departure home. 1:30pm Passage before Beth Chaya Mushka 49 rue Petit 75019 Paris.
The funeral will be held Sunday, 12/04 in Israel, 10:00 am at Shamgar and burial on Har Hazeitim.
Shiva will take place in Paris.
