This Sukkos, in response to popular demand, we are proud to present Lady Simchas Beis: A non-denominational unity event across the community for all women to join in joyous song and dance for Simchas Beis Hashoeva, united by our desire to celebrate the utmost joy of this powerful time.
Featuring renowned female singer/songwriter Esther Freeman together with a live band curated just for this event, women are invited to join sisters from across Brooklyn for an evening of freedom, expression and connection through dance and music.
Esther will be backed by Laura Melnicoff on cello, Miriam Sherr on percussion and Golda Malka Orrenstein on backup vocals to create a full live band for dancing and singing, with support from Rivka Fenton (Eilfort) and special guest MC Rochel Gurion (Sam). A special Water Tefillah will also take place in honor of Simchas Beis Hashoeva, led by Rishe Groner.
The event, to be held at Chevra Ahavas Yisroel (306 Albany Avenue), at 8pm on Wednesday, October 19th, Chol Hamoed Sukkos, will also feature a drum circle, kumzitz with niggunim, live interactive art, and a few surprises!
“Bizchus Nashim Tzidkoniyus Nigolu Avoseinu Uvischusam Asidin L’Higoel” – From the time Miriam took her tambourine and danced together with the women at the shores of the Yam Suf, we know there is power in women coming together to drum, to dance, to express connection to Hashem through embodiment and to daven for the good of the world with music and song. At this time of Sukkos, when we pray for the rains of the world, bringing women together in Crown Heights has the power to change the world. We invite all women, from all backgrounds and all affiliations to revive the prophecies bring down the Divine Shechinah through joy, song and dance.
