Message from NCFJE:
What a beautiful and meaningful time the yom tov season is! But to many families in our community, it is also a very difficult time financially.
NCFJE has been servicing the Crown Heights community for over forty years, working hard to make Kaparos not only available and convenient, but also as inexpensive as possible.
This year, NCFJE pleased to announce that they will once again be providing subsidized Kaparos chickens for only five dollars apiece. Kaparos takes place in the parking lot of Bais Rivkah High School at 310 Crown Street, with the entrance on Montgomery Street between New York and Nostrand Avenues.
NCFJE thanks Bais Rivkah for enabling them to make this arrangement possible, and are especially grateful to Rabbi Benjy Stock and Rabbi Tzvi Fass for their assistance.
Over ten years ago, diamond mogul Mr. Morris Gad became a proud sponsor, enabling NCFJE to subsidize Kaparos for Crown Heights residents. In more recent years, Rabbi Dovid Fischer joined Mr. Gad in supporting NCFJE’s efforts.
After a long and difficult battle with antagonists of Kaparos, the National Committee successfully won the court case that was brought against them. This allows the National Committee to continue to help the community fulfill our ancient custom of Kaparos using live chickens.
Due to the continuous growth of the community k’’ah, the higher cost of chickens and the extra expenses the lawsuit caused, Mr. Gad is now looking for another partner to join him in this mitzvah. Notwithstanding, Kaparos will be offered for five dollars apiece.
In the words of Mr. Gad, “I want to ensure that Kaparos here in Crown Heights, for the people of Crown Heights, is offered at the lowest cost in the entire city of New York. The Crown Heights community does so much for others, it is my honor to be able to be able to give to this remarkable community.”
In order to ensure that Kaparos this year is smooth and hassle-free, NCFJE has ordered a greater number of chickens than in past years.
“We look forward to greeting you at Bais Rivkah on Sunday, zayin tishrei/October 9th, beginning at 2:00 pm,” says Rabbi Shea Hecht, chairman of the board.
Wishing you a happy and sweet new year!
Thank you very much.

We usually share chickens! This year we all get to do the mitzvah on our own chicken
Thank you
Good Yomtov to all
Always there to help everyone! Thank you so much for helping my knh beautiful growing family make kaporos affordable.
A Zissen yomtov
Not every one in the community requires subsidized kaporos. Instead of finding another sponsor, why don’t you give the customers the option to purchase kaporos at $5 each or $10 each. Let the customer decide if they want someone else to subsidize their kaporos or not.
May this be the year that light always triumphs over darkness !!!!
Thank you to all who make this possible. Hashem should bless Mr. Morris Gad with great success and all kinds of goodness. Here is a man who knows how to spend the money Hashem bestowed on him.
