From the COLlive Inbox:
To my fellow community members of Crown Heights, I wish to thank you from the bottom of my heart. Whether knowingly or unknowingly, you have brought much joy to my family, especially to my little Luba, who is entering the 6th grade next week.
It all began when you purchased your ticket to the Soul II Soul concert back in March. Little did you know, your night of entertainment to come would be so much more than a night of entertainment for little Luba.
Because of you – your ticket purchase or your generous sponsorship – my Luba will be attending a Jewish school this Fall, which will offer her the services she needs in order to excel.
You see, Luba is not like most children. We were blessed with a wonderful child 11 years ago who is on the Autism spectrum. My wife Sara and I wanted to give Luba and her younger sister Gabi everything they could possibly need to succeed and be lamplighters in this world. But having a child with Autism presents added financial strain upon us; we just could not afford the tuition for her special schooling. Forced to choose between a secular education for her or taking out another mortgage on our home, we were at our wits end. It was at that point that a friend suggested we contact Shmuly and Tzirl Goldman, the founders of the organization Chasdei Soul II Soul.
“They throw a concert every year, you know, Soul II Soul?” my friend asked.
“Yes,” I recalled. I had taken my girls to the show the previous year. They had loved seeing Benny Friedman and Chaim Yisrael perform their favorite song “Yesh Tikvah”.
“Well the funds go toward Jewish education for children with special needs in Crown Heights.”
Let me tell you. That was six months ago. Today I brought Chasdei Soul II Soul’s check to Luba’s new school. It was a proud moment to walk into the administrator’s office and register my daughter for the coming school year.
Luba thanks you for her Jewish education and I thank you for allowing me to provide her with that education.
Crown Heights Mishpacha! Blessings for you all to grow m’chayil el chayil and be a light unto the rest of the world as true examples of generosity and providers of the best chinuch for our children.
To the Goldmans and to Rishe Deitsch who head up Chasdei Soul II Soul, let me say this: Your act of chesed has revealed a great light of hope in our lives, a big boost of emunah and bitachon for my entire family, and for that I am eternally grateful.
Tizku L’mitzvos!
Sincerely,
Dovid R.
Note from Soul to Soul Foundation:
Once a year, Chasdei Soul II Soul presents a concert and runs a fund-raising campaign. 100% of the proceeds each year are distributed to help special needs children attend Jewish schools. The money that is raised is then divided by the number of applicants and paid to the schools.
This year 37 families received financial aid. The need is great and growing. Each year, more and more families require financial aid to send children with special needs to school. Every dollar goes a long way to helping another child, another family.
Any child living in Crown Heights who attends an approved special needs school is eligible to receive funding. All the family needs to do is apply.

So happy for you. There’s nothing in this area for kids like your Luba and no friendship circle. Nothing. So happy for u. Awful to be without Jewish education or support .
thank you Shmuly and Tzirl for your tireless efforts
years pass and many things die down and fall to the side but you never let this drop and die
we try to learn from you to do the hard stuff to help other people
and then Hashem will help us
Hashem will surely give you much strength and nachas always!
