A stand-alone Pareve falafel restaurant will be opening on Kingston Avenue in Brooklyn’s Crown Heights, as the neighborhood continues to solidify its place as an up-and-coming food destination.
From a tiny storefront just down the street from the popular Boeuf and Bun and Basil eateries, owner Meir Adika will be offering authentic Israeli-style falafel, salads, and fish dishes.
The Israeli native who emigrated to the US has over 20 years of experience in the restaurant industry, opening a number of restaurants in Manhattan such as Jerusalem Garden, Jerusalem Express and La Casba.
Adika, a resident of Queens, NY, who is also a talented artist, told COLlive he started in the restaurant industry years ago because “I didn’t want to be a starving artist,” he jokes.
Seeing a friend open a small falafel shop which later expanded to a large, successful restaurant, Adika says he knows the popularity of a fresh, vegetarian menu. “We will be offering homemade falafel, hummus and tehina, which is so different and really delicious when its made fresh,” he says. They will be offering fresh juices, salads and fish and chips as well.
The restaurant, which they plan to open in the next week or so, will have seating for around 15 people, and will offer takeout and delivery as well.
Kingston Falafel is located at 250 Kingston Avenue at St Johns place in Crown Heights.
The restaurant is under CHK supervision.

I’ll give it one year. It will then go the way of the frozen yogurt place and the juice place. And really, is falafel such a big deal that any 3rd rate pizza place can’t make a 3rd rate dish like falafel?
I was amazed seeing how many comments asked for gluten free. Is that really a true health issue for so many people or more of a media catch-phrase?
my husband and I will be so happy
hatzlacha rabba
Awesome. Keep it CHK and I’m in there!!
Will they have a cranky Israeli smoking a cigarette behind the counter? Then it’s the real deal.
Please make gluten free!!!
WHY DONT THEY ALSO EXPAND AND TAKE OVER THE EMPTY CORNER STORE AS WELL ??
Will there be anything on the menu that will be very low in salt, no MSG and sugar free? I’m really looking forward to some take out that I can actually eat! Not too spicy would also help!
why not also shwarma
Looking forward 🙂
I hope it will be like the falafel places in Israel with delicious french fries included. Also all those wonderful additions, self-service- of various eggplants, and interesting pickled items. I always like the variety of containers with items one can add on one’s own, like extra hummus etc. GOOD LUCK.
Hatzlachah Rabbah to you. I’m looking forward for that first bite of falafel.ממש כמו בארץ
BS”D I hope they do well but health wise how can any food immersed in oil for cooking be healthy, if anything it is downright dangerous, take a blood test before you indulge
