Almond milk is pareve and may be consumed with meat although the Talmud warns against the perception that someone may be eating the prohibited mix of milk and meat together.
The popularity of almond milk, says Nielsen, has shrunk dairy milk sales by $1 billion and accounts for 5 percent of the total milk market.
Dairy producers are fighting the almond milk craze arguing that the almonds lack the protein of regular milk.
Some kosher foodservice experts say that the almond milk would be a good replacement for the non-dairy creamer that is often used for coffee at the end of a meat meal when regular milk cannot be consumed.
It is also being looked at as a possible replacement for people who are lactose intolerant or suffer from other allergic reactions to the pure milk.
In Israel, “chalav shkeidim” or almond milk sales have soared but significantly not at the expense of regular dairy milk sales.

the pictured cartons say ou-d. be careful
Blue Diamond Almond Milk, when purchased off the shelf, not from the refrigerator, is usually Pareve. Most brands of almond milk in the refrigerator sections of major supermarkets are OUD. most of the shelf ones are pareve.
I believe not everyone can tolerate coconut -it may have to do with the blood type
healthy and delicious
I know there is a lawsuit against the Blue Diamond brand of almond milk because there is mostly lecithin and sweeteners in the milk and hardly no almonds. In whole foods there is a brand ‘365’ organic almond milk-parve. It is a totally different taste: creamy, rich and delicious.
If the dairy companies are losing so much $, why are they not lowering their prices as in incentive. Also perhaps they can make products that are cholov yisroel. $8 for kleins ice cream vs non cholov yisroel at $4 is price gouging.
that they are so popular, they are so watery and tasteless, hardly any almonds in there….
I have used MACADEMIA mill, sold in the big CH supermarkets from Australia, it is the vegetarian milk closes ti milk , delicious, with a real silky texture
And with those savings you can hire a computer repair guy to fix your caps lock button.
I asked this question to the OU and they said it’s diary equipment. The OU policy is to write D even when it’s just DE
In my city, this brand is all OU-D. BTW OU does not use a DE dsignation.
These big companies’ almond milks are just 2% almonds!!!
Stop wasting your money on water infused with synthetic vitamins and a drop of almonds.
make sure its GMO free, look it up. I just read about it and I checked it out.
to me it’s yum, l like it hot, to each it’s own
YOU CAN MAKE ALMOND MILK IN YOUR BLENDER ONE CUP ALMONDS AND 4 CUPS OF WATER. GOOGLE IT. NO NEED TO WASTE 4-5 DOLLARS ON A BOTTLE O ALMOND MILK
If dairy equipment is used, they need to add the d.
Certain halachic guidelines may deem an item DAIRY even if legally it isn’t considered dairy, ask your LOR (=local orthodox Rabbi) for more details
That usually means the product is processed while hot on equipment that has been used for dairy in the past, and has never been kashered.
Trader Joe’s Almond Milk in the refrigerator section is OU pareve
Can someone explain to me why most flavored almond milk (Silk, etc.), has an OU D, when the company does not produce anything with dairy in it? Companies must disclose when there is an allergen in their product, and these “milk” bottles clearly say that the facility also produces soy or nut products, but say nothing about dairy.
Just a curiosity I’ve had for a while…
