Rabbi Moshe Freedman, Director of Beit Jabad Bahia Blanca -Chiclana, the Chabad center in Argentina, passed away on Thursday, 22 Tammuz 5776.
He was 57 and battled an illness.
In 1986, Rabbi Moshe and his wife Sarah Freedman (nee Alevsky) were sent by the Rebbe to enhance Jewish life and observance in Bahia Blanca.
Bahia Blanca is a small city located 500 miles south of Buenos Aires, in Argentina. This small Jewish community was established in the port town over 120 years ago, by Baron de Hirsh in order to help persecuted European Jews resettle and farm.
Although neither spoke Spanish, the Rebbe encouraged them to move to the small community and take up the position, Chabad.org reported.
Drawing on Chabad’s staple approach of dedication and love to every Jew, the Freedmans have re-energized the spiritual and communal life that had been stagnant for many years before their arrival.
When the economic crisis hit Argentina in 2000, the Freedman’s responded with financial and moral support for hundreds of working and middle-class Jewish families in Bahia Blanca.
He is survived by his wife Sarah Freedman, their children Rabbi Yossi Freedman – Cleveland, OH; Rabbi Mendy Freedman – Lyndhurst, OH; Rabbi Levi Freedman – Munich, Germany; Mrs. Rochel Kalmenson – Shanghai, China; Rabbi Shlomo Freedman – Crown Heights; Mushki Freedman, Shmuel Freedman, Nochum Freedman, Sholom Freedman and Aidy Freedman; and grandchildren.
He is also survived by his mother Mrs. Chana Feiga Freedman of Jerusalem and parents in law, Rabbi Leibel and Devorah Alevsky, Shluchim of Cleveland, Ohio; and siblings Mrs. Ita Kramer – Tveria, Israel; Mrs. Yaffa Rivkin – Karmiel, Israel; Rabbi Dovid Freedman – Kfar Chabad, Israel; and Rabbi Mendy Freedman – Har Adar, Israel.
The levaya will be taking place on Friday at Shomrei Hadas Chapels at 1 PM and passing by 770 Eastern Parkway at 2 PM.
The family will be sitting Shiva at the Kalmenson residence at 1374 Union St. (between Brooklyn and Kingston). 7 minyanim are needed for each davening.

I grew up with him in Yeshiva. always so pleasant and warm. was a pleasure being around him. had the light side and seriousness of a real chosid. we will miss you Moishele very much!!

When the Rebbe instructed the yungeleit of the kollel to put out a sefer of the maarei mekomos on the Rambam. Moshele was in charge and he worked mamosh blev vnefesh
so so young , I will try my best to take his legacy to heart and give more because of him

Rabbi Freedman was a real person and a model chossid. Sacrificing his life for Jews in a far of place – the definition of mesirus nefesh. Ka”h his beautiful family is his living legacy!

A true Chosid, Shliach learned in Nigleh and Chasidus, and a good friend, not to many Chasidim like him, what a tragic loss to his Mishpacha to his friends, to Lubavitch and to the world.
He will really be missed by all.

Baal mesiras nefesh, a one of a kind chossid with ahavas yisroel beyond limits. I was zoche to stay in his house a few times, was amazing to see a living example of a mekushar, baal midos toivos and how he related to his family truly respecting his wife and given over to his children’s chinuch.
May hashem comfort this beautiful family and give them coach and gezunt to overcome the pain and sadness. They should only know from simchos from now on.

This man was a true Chosid. A kind, gentle soul, with love to everyone. A man who lives with Mesiras Nefesh, and, together with his wife, brought up a family as beautiful as them. A terrible loss to this world.
