‘Wilkes-Barre’ Has a Little Brother

There’s a secret hiding in the hills of Northeast Pennsylvania…

Bais Menachem Mt. Cobb, the little-known younger sibling of the incredible Bais Menachem Youth Development Program of Wilkes-Barre, PA (under the direction of Rabbi Uri Perlman) has just completed its third successful year.

Located in scenic Mt. Cobb, PA – about 30 miles north of Wilkes-Barre – this program is designed for younger bochurim ages 14-16. The yeshiva is situated on 30 acres of land.

The main building houses the zal and dorm, and is surrounded by recreational fields. Led by Rabbi Yossi Goodman and an amazing staff of shluchim, Mt. Cobb offers an alternative style Yeshiva.

No “one size fits all” learning here. A limited number of students and high staff to student ratio ensure that each bochur will be able to learn at his own pace and in the way that best suits him. Appropriate incentives help the bochurim stay focused and achieve their goals. The Yeshiva has a secular studies program as well.

The bochurim are also encouraged to be productive and creative outside the classroom. This past year, boys studied, piano, photography, video editing, building, and more! The Yeshiva grounds include a recreational room/lounge and music equipment (drum set, guitar, piano).

A major reason for the astonishing success of Bais Menachem Mt. Cobb is the Shluchim who learn with and mentor the bochurim. Shluchim are carefully chosen who understand the needs and challenges of a young adult growing up in today’s world. The goal is that each bochur will grow to be first and foremost a mentch, self-confident in who he is as a person. This will ultimately help him find the right path in Yiddishkeit and in life.
