Mrs. Zissel Sandhaus, a pillar of the Chabad community in Argentina, passed away on Thursday, 8 Tammuz 5776.
She was 91.
Her passing in Arizona tragically happened a few days after the sudden passing of her son, R’ Yosef Yehoshua Sandhaus, a Lubavitcher chossid who worked as a Mashgiach in South America.
Mrs. Sandhaus was known in the community for her open home and gracious charachter. Locals were welcomed at the family’s Shabbos table and visitors to Argentina were offered a place to stay.
She also headed the Gemach for Kallahs, a charity which helped fund weddings for brides from financially strapped origins. Her organization raised needed funds and would help newlywed couple start off married life.
She is survived by her husband R’ Hershel Sandhaus – Argentina; children Mrs. Tzippy Levertov – Pheonix, Arizona; R’ Sruly Sandhaus – Crown Heights; Mrs. Deby Rosenfeld – Zurich, Switzerland; grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
The levaya of Yossel Sandhaus will take place in New York on Thursday, leaving Shomrei Hadas Chaples at 2:45 pm and passing by 770 Eastern Parkway at 4:00 pm.
The levaya of Zissel Sandhaus will take place on Friday, passing by 770 Eastern Parkway at 10:00 am. Both will be buried at the Old Montefiore Cemetery in Cambria Heights, Queens.
