More than 60 teen volunteer participants were recognized during the first annual CTeen of Kensington Banquet at the Ocean Terrace Hall in Brooklyn, NY, on June 19th.
The event recognized the teens’ work in Chabad of Kensington’s CTeen program.
The teen speakers eloquently shared how the programs impacted them personally in a positive way. Shaya Gura, a High School senior said, “CTeen has made a huge difference in my life. It has enabled me to feel proud of who I am and ignited the spark within me to help others around me.”
Each of the participating teens received a certificate for their participation throughout the year. The event was attended by teens, parents, friends and community members, as well as Mr. Ari Kagan, a representative of NYC Comptroller Scott Stringer.
CTeen of Kensington is led by Rabbi Yisroel and Mushkie Langsam under the auspicious of Chabad of Kensington’s executive director, Rabbi Moshe Chaim and Mrs. Doba Levin.
The CTeen Leadership Board, Alan Grimberg, Sarah Gur, Eliza Nisimova and Malka Kopolovich, teens who plan and arrange the regular CTeen events, received special recognition.
Sponsored by a grant of CTeen International and community support, Chabad of Kensington’s Teen Leadership Initiative strives to promote maturity, pride in community and heritage, respect for others, and humanitarianism by engaging teens in meaningful programs presented in a spirited and fun environment. A variety of opportunities are available for teens from middle through high school.
Chabad of Kensington welcomes all middle and high school students to participate in the CTeen program. More information and fall programming is available on the CTeen Kensington Facebook page or call 347-864-7776.
