On a picturesque quiet serene street of Johannesburg, surrounded by a lush garden of green grass and palm trees, with the background sound of the water fountain and the near Olympic sized swimming pool, sits the beautiful building of the Lubavitch Yeshiva of Johannesburg.
On the outskirts of Glenhazel, minutes away from so many Kosher stores and restaurants, surrounded by Jews of all walks of life, yet out of the hubbub of the centre.
It is in this place of learning and Avodas Hashem with its spacious and beautiful Zal, dining room and kitchen that serve nutritious and delicious food, and comfortable dorm rooms upstairs, that there exist all the necessary ingredients for a Chassidishe bochur to thrive and grow.
It is from this location that the famed Yeshivas Kayitz of Johannesburg will once again operate, acceding to the many requests of Bochurim and parents, that the Yeshiva should once again open its doors for Bochurim to experience the summer of their lives.
Over the years, YKSA has become synonymous with excellence in learning and Chassidishkeit. It is in this program that hundreds of Bochurim have grown into successful Rabbonim, teachers, Shluchim, businessmen and any other occupation you can think of.
These young men who now reside in every continent, and themselves lead and guide others, all point at their year spent in YKSA as the turning point of their lives. It is this program that fulfils the Rebbe’s words of being a “factory for Chassidim”, creating an atmosphere where a Bochur enjoys learning and Chassidishkeit, where every Bochur that comes through its doors says: “I never knew that I can learn so much and also enjoy it.”
It is here that a bochur pushes himself to complete an entire Masechta of over 100 Blatt, and at the same time to complete an entire Sefer – a full years cycle of the Rebbe’s Ma’amorim, and also learn in depth the laws and dimensions of the Beis HaMikdash. No wonder Bochurim say that in the six-week summer in Johannesburg they have learned more than an entire year of Yeshiva anywhere else.
As in the past, the intense learning is made possible by a staff that knows how to motivate with trips and prizes that are unparalleled anywhere else in the world. It is in YKSA that a Bochur learns how to utilize every moment and situation, how to “live Moshiach” at every opportunity. Be it a hike in the park, a Farbrengen in a safari, or Mivtza Tefilin on top of a mountain in Cape town.
The trips throughout the breath-taking country of SA are not merely trips but lessons in life, in appreciation of Hashem’s beautiful world, in internalizing the teachings of Chassidus and preparing the world for the coming of Moshiach.
This year Rabbi Mendel Elberg has already begun to put together an amazing group of top Chassidishe Bochurim, leaving only a limited amount of places left to be filled.
Once again, the numbers will be kept limited, allowing for a small and closeknit group who can enjoy the guidance of the experienced world class staff led by Abbale Raichik.
As in the past, the Yeshivas Kayitz is directed by Rabbi Noam Wagner, who will once again be available to teach Bochurim and Farbreng with them throughout all hours of the day and night, with the world famous Mashpia Rabbi Kesselman teaching Chassidus and Farbrenging. There will also be Shiurim and Farbrengens of many other local Rabbis, both from the Anash community and outside of it.
All of the above is only a drop in the ocean in describing what goes on in a summer in Yeshivas Kayitz of Johannesburg. As so many before, you will never believe that such a thing is actually possible until you experience it yourself.
Enrolment is already well on its way, and there are only a limited amount of spaces left. Registration is also open for next year Yeshiva. Enroll now before the program is completely full at Yglsa.co.za
i can personally attest that the gashmius is also very good at the yeshiva
what they did not mention is that the cook at yeshiva used to work at a fancy restaurant in s.a.
