The most desirable Jewish cuisine is once again available in Crown Heights.
5 years after the closure of the Chinese eatery Esther’s Deli & Grill on Albany Avenue, a new kosher restaurant Prime Wok is opening this week and will serve staple Asian dishes.
The eatery is opening adjacent to Prime Sandwich in the former storefront of Hosanna Deli Grocery at 377-a Kingston Avenue which had been in operation for around 35 years.
“I had been trying for years to get the owner next door to move out and sell me his lease,” says Yossi Gershowitz, the Crown Heights resident who owns both Prime restaurants.
“It always bothered me that he sold non-kosher foods,” Gershowitz told COLlive.com. “I was always hoping to take the space over to offer kosher food for all.”
The store was fully renovated with an Oriental-inspired design and can seat up to 30 people, which will also be available for events. They will be offering catering service for small events and simches, as well as home delivery.
An Executive Chef has begun working and crafting a menu with the help of 3 assistant chefs. They are offering familiar Chinese food for the Jewish palate with an extensive chicken menu, beef menu, appetizers and diet menu.
The price ranges between $12 to $15 per meal. Small and large size portions are available.
Prime Wok is open for business and is having a soft opening on Thursday night from the Prime Sandwich entrance.

it clearly says a “strictly chinese”
meaning… only Chinese and not other food

Izzy’s BBQ 🙂
So true!. I worked in cgi NY canteen for 2 years. Brings back memories. Although we didn’t serve Chinese. ….
Can’t wait
Didn’t realize they were open till I was on Kingston tonight. The food has an authentic Asian flavor, not just a splash of soy sauce on spaghetti. Portions were quite generous, and service was with a smile. 😃 Mendys don’t worry. I have my menu all planned. Mendys for chicken gumbo soup and gulash Bouef and bun for their incredible baa baa burger Basil for the denise fish Mermelsteins for madbucha and musakah Prime sandwich for their steak salad Wok for wonton eggdrop soup and curry Empire grill for burgers and beef rolls Sushi spot for .eh eh oh yes,… Read more »
