Bernie Sanders wasn’t the only Jewish person competing on Tuesday to be the Democratic candidate for President of the United States.
Fred Lewis, an attorney, submitted his application to be a write-in candidate in New Hampshire, facing Sanders and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.
Part of his campaign promises are “no more war” or sending troops overseas because “we don’t even have any allies over there, except for Israel, and the Kurds too.”
Sporting a colorful dress code, Lewis was making his rounds on Tuesday as residents of the Granite State headed to the polls.
One of the people he bumped into was Rabbi Levi Krinsky, Director of Chabad Lubavitch of New Hampshire, who has been reaching out to Jewish staffers and operatives.
Rabbi Krinsky invited him to enjoy a kosher meal at the Chabad field office in downtown Manchester and to put on Tefillin. Lewis said that he went to a Chabad school in California in his youth.
So Fred Lewis from the Love Party agreed to halt his busy campaign schedule and pray. He certainly won Hashem’s approval for that Mitzvah…
