The Rockland County Jewish community celebrated the chassidic holiday of Yud Tes Kislev with a gala Melava Malka this past Motzei Shabbos, Parshas Vayishlach, organized by Heichal Menachem of Monsey.
The festive evening was attended by prominent Rabbonim and drew a diverse crowd of close to 1000 people, representing the entire spectrum of Jews, all in their yearning and appreciation in this turbulent era, for Avodas Hashem as it is illuminated via Chassidus.
The program was organized by Heichal Menachem’s director, R’ Dovid Oberlander, son of Rabbi Gedalia Oberlander, and chaired by R’ Hershy Rosenbluh.
Opening remarks were shared by Rabbi Efrayim Piekarski, Rosh Leil Shishi Kollel at Heichal Menachem, followed by noted lecturer and author Rabbi Nosson Gurary.
The highlight of the event was the riveting and thought provoking Divrei Hisorerus presented by Rabbi YY Jacobson, the world renowned orator who served as a choizer of the Rebbe.
Rabbi Jacobson passionately elaborated about how the teachings of Chassidus addresses some of the acutest challenges of our times and elevating one to the ultimate level of Ahava V’Yiras Elokim despite one’s challenges.
As in the past, hundreds flocked to buy Chassidishe seforim for a drastically reduced price for this unique occasion. A new sefer “Netzutzei Aish” was being sold. Culled from the wisdom of the Baal Hatanya, organizers said the book was bound to “flare our inner sparks to Avodas Hashem.”
Participants received a memento printed especially for this event, “Toldos Sefer HaTanya,” elaborating on the history of the Tanya.
Throughout, the evening was enhanced with various heartwarming Chassidishe niggunim by the talented vocalists Yossi Goldstein and the Rabin brothers, inspiring and lingering on as the evening concluded in spontaneous dance late into the night.
