Mrs. Chana Sorhagen, longtime member of the Lubavitch community in Morristown, New Jersey, passed away Tuesday, 12 Kislev, 5776.
She was 97.
An energetic women who enjoyed attending social events, Mrs. Sorhagen was known as a beloved community figure, who always had a kind word for everyone she met.
A generous donor to various Chabad causes, she donated to the Morristown Chabad Cheder by sponsoring the “Maftir Yonah” prayer every year.
She is survived by 2 sons and a daughter, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
The graveside funeral will take place today, Wednesday at 11:30 AM at Hebrew Cemetery in Randolph NJ, 100 South Road.

I am indebted to Chana Sorhagen o.b.m. I remember Mrs. Sorhagen as a warm address when I visited Morristown. She was very special, caring about me personally. Her devotion to the Tzadik expresses itself in this story: a dollar from the Rebbe on which she had written her name but which mistakenly was used for groceries re-appeared a while later when a tollbooth gave change to her son in law. (or was it her son?)
She will be missed !
With her charming smile and witty comments, she was loved by all who knew her. May her neshoma have an Aliyah,

I received a call many years ago from Rabbi Shapiro of Morisstown that Mrs. Sorhagen would like to donate a sefer torah to the community of Nicaragua, She called me and explained that a friend of hers just returned from a trip to Nicaragua and described the grave spiritual situation in which the small community was in, and she decided that she wanted to bring some light to a spiritually dark place and asked me if I can arrange it and make sure that it should always be used in accordance to halacha.
