The New England Patriots football team held a moment of silence before Monday’s home game to honor 18-year-old Ezra Schwartz, murdered by Palestinian terrorists in Israel last week.
The avid Patriots fan and Massachusetts native was mentioned by name before the presentation of the color guard, which was followed by a moment of silence in memory of recent victims of terror.
Schwartz, who hailed from Sharon, Mass., was studying in Israel and had been en route to deliver food to soldiers when a terrorist approached the van he was riding in and opened fire. He was pronounced dead on the scene.
Monday’s game against Buffalo was broadcast nationwide on ESPN at 8:30 p.m.
Former Knesset member Dov Lipman sent Patriots owner Robert Kraft a letter requesting the memorial.
“This is such a fitting tribute to Ezra and is so meaningful to his family and friends,” Lipman told The Times of Israel. “Mr. Kraft is a first class human being who does what is right and just. His support for Israel during these tough times has been unwavering and a pillar of strength for all of us. I am usually a Washington Redskins fan, but tonight – and possibly from now on – we are all Patriots.”
this is what will happen many more times with the “deterrent” set by obama it is everyone’s duty as a jew to vote for republican
#12 is right on point
It’s honor to the family and the victim, no matter what the semantics…
This wasn’t about Ezra Schwarz. This was a moment for the terror victims of late. With no mention of Israel, or the fact that the terrorists were specifically Palestinian and not Isis, this moment was political and the mention of Ezra although beautiful, was a feeble attempt at addressing the real issue; terrorism in Israel, which is not receiving the attention that terrorism elsewhere receives.
They also didn’t mention France or any other country
Studying in Israel… Say it !!
The didnt have to mention Israel, because they were also honoring all of the terror attacks in which Americans were killed in the last month. Paris, Mali, Israel……realize the point of what happened. Everyone who knew about Ezra knew what it was about. I dislike the Patriots, but Robert Kraft is a man among men. Kudos to him, and peace to everyone, Moshiach now
Was really cool, they should have mentioned Israel, and not just say abroad!
the terrorist drove by and shot at the car he was riding him, “approached” implies he walked up to it.
To be fair I think they did mention Israel at least once
I don’t understand why they couldn’t mention that he got killed in Isreal by terrorist.
Good one!
It seems like this was some kind of compromise (to mention the victim but not the country). Better than nothing I guess. Bsuros tovos only!
well said #5
Big deal about the Patriots giving Ezra a moment of silence. Obama gave him 72 hours…
BIG CREDIT TO THEM FOR STANDING UP FOR WHATS RIGHT.
Studying abroad ? they specifically left out mention of Israel!
they couldn’t mention Israel?
Good thing Obama doesn’t own the team.
