Of course, it’s not inconceivable that people assumed he was acting a part (which he actually was) since he was dressed that way and spoke in a comical voice. If it had been a person who was clearly in trouble, probably more people would have reacted helpfully. However it’s praiseworthy that the boys decided not to make cheshbonos and went to see if the guy really needed help.

Looks can be deceiving

During much of the video, he laid there doing nothing. If he flailed his arms or made it LOOK like he was TRYING to get up but failing, then I bet others would have helped. But yes, I’m glad to see they came to help in the end.

wow

what a kidush hashem!!
but i wonder why nobody bothered to help this poor man (or sponge) off the ground!! especially cause he was asking for help;)
p.s to number 15,

number two, even if they werent kosher we should help every liiving thing cause G-D created it nomatter what.

I think this is not a fair situation. alot of people could think as #11 said that it was part of an act, a set up, and just weird. I would shudder to think that if this was a real person who obviously needed help that people would jump over him, ignore and move on…we as a people have become indeed become callous but not pathetically so.

That was dangerous

Although it was nice of those boys to help, a cartoon character lying on the floor is arguably part of an act and its not an indictment on anyone who doesn’t participate in his act, especially in NYC streets where everyone is out to hussle and hassle.
