Pressure is mounting on Congresswoman Yvette Clarke to vote against the proposed nuclear deal with Iran.
With hundreds of calls coming into her Brooklyn Office on Tuesday by concerned constituents, many callers reported that they felt they were being given the “brush off” after being told by Clarke’s staff to “call our Washington, DC office about these policies.”
The calls are being made this week due to a grassroots campaign by a group of local Crown Heights activists to urge Congresswoman Clarke to vote “No” on the proposed deal.
Some two dozen Crown Heights synagogues and community organizations emailed their members expressing deep concern about the deal.
Opponents hung several twenty foot banners across the main Kingston Avenue on Tuesday, calling attention to the campaign.
One of the anti-Iran banners reads, “Death to Israel. Death to the USA”, a quote from Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, in the days following the agreement.
Other banners read “Deal gives billions to terrorists” and “Don’t let Iran get the bomb.” All the banners contain Clarke’s Brooklyn office phone number and ask community members to call her office and urge her to vote “No.”
Clarke represents the 3rd largest Jewish district in the country.
Approximately 25 percent of her district is Jewish. It includes the heavily Orthodox Jewish neighborhoods of Crown Heights, East Flatbush, Flatbush and Kensington.
Please take a moment today and call Congresswoman Yvette Clarke.

Phone Script:
“I am calling Congresswoman Yvette Clarke to urge my representative to oppose the Iran nuclear deal because it will not block Iran from getting a nuclear weapon.”
Talking Points:
* We appreciate the hard work of the administration to reach a deal.
* Unfortunately, the proposed deal will let Iran become a threshold nuclear weapons state and will not guarantee international inspectors access to suspicious sites in Iran.
* Congress and the president have repeatedly said, “No deal is better than a bad deal.” This is a bad deal.
*Congress must oppose this agreement, and urge the administration to negotiate a better deal that will truly prevent Iran from building a nuclear weapon.

What are the New York and Washington numbers we should call?
It is very important! I just called and they started fumbling over their words but I stood my ground
It is very important! I just called and they started fumbling over their words but I stood my ground
I was also brushed off with the number to call in Washington but I call that number regardless and this is what I said; I am a resident of Crown Heights and second generation American I request that Ms. Clark vote against This Iran suicide deal as it threatens my freedom and my very life
To # 20 Why you getting all twisted the guy from number 19 has a point
Putting all your hopes in this keli is putting your hopes into quicksand. It just won’t hold. And yet when we tried to get someone into a position with at least some leverage in government, only a fraction of the community voted. Where were you all then?
That is an inappropriate comment to make, just because your comment is anonymous and Donald Trump says whatever he wants, doesn’t mean as a Frum (chabad) yid you need to be obnoxious. In short we win either way. If she votes as we are asking her to vote than we have a huge victory. If she ignores us then she’ll have just angered thousands of voters and will need to suffer the consequences of that. Currently she’s from top 10 safest dem congressional seats. Even if in ’16 she wins with 70% of vote instead of her usual 92% it… Read more »
you realize that there is no way on this planet that an african american woman will go against barak obama….hello?
Put the sign on nostrand!!
They got about 750 calls today
When we don’t call, they say ‘we didn’t know it’s importance because no one called’
Let’s not give anyone that excuse. Call NY and DC office. I voted for her and I want my voice to be heard loud and clear – I am against the deal and so should my representative in Congress.

They tell you what they want you to believe. I am sure they got more calls but won’t admit it, lest they have to vote against the deal.
After calling the local office, I then called the Washington number and spoke to a woman called Loretta.
I asked him if she could tell me what type of response they’re getting…. She told me they only got about 20 phone calls today… Some for and some against
another sign on Kingston
Junior N’shei is spreading the word today. According to their facebook page: Thank you to all those who called! The calls are coming non-stop and her voicemail is full! Do not feel dejected if you are told to call Wahington or another number. Just by calling and stating the script, the message is coming across loud and clear. If you have done so yet, please take a moment today and call Congresswoman Yvette Clarke. Their passing you the Washington number on purpose. Don’t fall for it or call both.
Email in this particular matter is basically pointless but you can follow this link https://clarke.house.gov/contact/email-me
good idea, but I feel very Uncomfortable with the words “death to Israel” hanging over the streets of Crown Heights
I’d rather write than call — get too nervous on the phone. Can someone post email addresses for Clark and others? I’m happy to write.

and also got brushed off..she said” alright , we got it ..” I didn’t even finish the sentence.
They said that we have to call this #202 225 6231
I felt totally brushed off but at least my message got through!
if she votes for deal, she must be ignored, no support from our community.
Wow with all the craziness going on in the USA and world right now. Its nice to have a strong feeling of achdus in Crown Heights over this issue. All types of shuls and community org’s without any hesitation agreed to join the effort.
Even if Congresswoman Clarke ends up siding with the President or plays other political games, we still win. For the first time in many years Crown Heights is engaging our elected officials and putting them on notice. This is a very healthy activity and we shouldn’t feel discouraged.
Thanks to whoever is behind this! we need people that are ready to speak up when needed!!
I called and hope everyone does as well!
