At least 6 victims were airlifted from a serious crash on Route 17, just after midnight on Friday morning.
Sources tell YWN that Catskill Hatzolah received numerous calls at around 12:15Am reporting a two vehicle crash on Route 17 Westbound between Exits 114 and 114.
Upon arrival, Hatzolah volunteers found two vehicles involved in the crash – one was a 15 passenger van, and the second was a minivan. Two victims were pinned inside the vehicles.
Paramedics began treating the victims on the scene, and requested two choppers to airlift two occupants with serious injuries.
It took the Wurtsboro Fire Department around 45 minutes to successfully extricate one of the victims who was heavily entrapped in the vehicle.
Both seriously injured victims were driven to the landing zone one mile away, and were being flown to the Albany Medical Center.
Four other victims were being taken by Hatzolah to local hospitals – all in stable condition.
In addition to Hatzolah, Mobilemedics and the Mamakating EMS were on the scene as well.
Sources tell YWN that the 15 passenger van had possible broken down and was stuck in middle of the roadway, and was rear-ended by the minivan. A dash-cam video that YWN has seen – taken just a minute before the crash – shows the 15 passenger van stuck in the roadway.
The NY State Police is on the scene conducting an investigation.
Sources tell COLlive that thank G-d the victims are responding as of Friday morning.

I wasn’t there so I don’t know the fax. out of curiosity I just don’t understand it’s not a 6 Lane Highway if the car died out why didn’t they just roll it and get off the road instead of sitting in the middle of the highway. May God send to all those that need it a speedily recovery
I drove on those roads two weeks ago and, aside from the dark roads and twists and turns, there are deer!! I very nearly hit one, which could cause a lot of damage to a car. If you must drive at night please go VERY slowly and forget about all the people passing you! Hashem Yishmor!
so terrible! they should have a speedy recovery!

Refuah shlaima, can we know name of family to help further?
Refuah Shlaima b’Karov Yosef Yitzchak HaCohen ben Rivkah Leah. Everyone else, I am told, is doing well, BH!
I was on that stretch of road about an hour and a half before. There was a lot of traffic. I presume that by midnight there was less.
But I found the drivers aggressive last night. I have been doing that stretch of highway a lot this summer – but last night I decided to slow it down and go in the right lane because the drivers were so aggressive.
Even without saying the standard Tefilos HaDerech, we need to strengthen asking Hashem to protect us.
May the injured have miraculous Refua Shlaima on this Tu B’Av
