Color War in Yeshivah Summer Program, located at the Rabbinical College of America in Morristown, New Jersey, broke out last week on Tuesday night.
For the next two days, the 200 Talmidim in YSP were split into two teams of “Avodas Hashem War”, “Bonim” and “Avodim”, representing the two general ways that Chassidus describes our connection with Hashem, and the different ways in how we serve Him.
After an intense two days of competition, with both teams preparing plays, skits and songs fitting with their themes, the Avodas Hashem War culminated in the “Grand Sing” on Thursday night, where the Talmidim gathered to present their Theme songs, amongst a host of other events.
Each team dressed as a different idea that represented them – Team Bonim as Shluchim at the International Kinus Hashluchim, and team Avodim as Starbucks employees.
Fitting with the Kinus Hashluchim theme, Rabbi Moshe Kotlarsky, Vice Chariman of Merkos L’inyonei Chinuch, was welcomed to the Grand Sing, where he addressed the Talmidim, and introduced the keynote Speaker from Team Bonim – Talmid Shenur Shemtov, General of Team Bonim.
Rabbi Moshe Herson, Head Shliach of New Jersey and Executive Director of the Rabbinical College of America, accompanied Rabbi Kotlarsky, and also addressed the Talmidim.
Talmid Mendel Lipskier, General of Team Avodim, addressed his Team and its theme, explaining the significance of his team’s costume, and how it relates to the team.
The two themes, “Avodim” and “Bonim” were expressed in different ways throughout the night in the presentations prepared by the Talmidim. Staff members enhanced the evening, encouraging the Talmidim to participate, making the evening, and the themes of Avodas Hashem, something to remember long after the summer’s end.

GO LEVI!!!!!!!!!!!! LOOK LIKE UR HAVING FUN!!!!!:););)
Every grand sing each team picks a theme. They try to pick a theme that is original (or typical, pirates, soldiers, waiters), has a good costume, scene, props etc. If you were there you’d hear a speech of how it relates to their theme but this one is pretty self explanatory. Very cute and well executed.
Love the rotating podium! Really cute kinus redo.
Just don’t really get the Starbucks idea. Can someone explain?
