Members of Bais Shmuel Chabad Congregation in Crown Heights gathered on the rooftop deck of the home of businessman Haysha and Bassie Deitsch for a barbecue event on Monday evening.

With the setting sun as a backdrop, the group of a few dozen men mingled over a hearty barbecue spread and a selection of wine and drinks.

The event, hosted by Bais Shmuel President Rabbi Moshe Pinson, Levi Wilhelm, Shmuly Kopfstein and Haysha Deitsch, was held in support of the Shluchim of the city of Hebron in Israel and their dedicated work.

Rabbi Danny Cohen and his wife Batsheva are marking their 13th year as Shluchim to the city of Hebron, facing a day to day challenge of living in a hostile environment from neighboring Arabs.

"Our Shlichus is so different than most, in that we are actually representing a city," said Cohen. "We are involved in many projects in the city, because it is known that the Rebbeim had a special interest in Hebron, and not just spiritually - they also wanted to uplift the city physically as well, by beautifying and maintaining the surroundings."

At the event, local businessman and community activist Barry Sugar spoke about his recent trip to Hebron, and his experiences meeting with the IDF soldiers on the front lines.

Rabbi Cohen expressed great appreciation to the Bais Shmuel Congregation, who he says has been giving moral and financial support to the city for over a decade. Many have hosted private events in the city, sharing their family Simchas with IDF soldiers.

"We are so grateful for the special way the Chabad community around the world has warmly embraced and supported Chabad of Hebron, especially the Bais Shmuel congregation," he said.

Genuine question
I have started a much needed project (not in Crown Heights.) Interest in what we are doing is very very high, but mainly from participants. Last night we held an nice event for invited guests (called, spoke, texted, reminded) and 5 people showed. Most had said yes.

You are successful businessmen who do a lot for people in need. How do we go about raising the funds we desperately need? Is there any way I reach any of you to explain our goals and learn how to effectively raise the funds we need for this project?
