Now that’s not what you would call “savings”…
Account holders at Apple Bank for Savings at 318 Albany Avenue in Brooklyn, NY, were recently the target of credit card fraud while using the bank’s 24 hour ATM service.
According to one resident, who banks at Apple, a skimming device seems to have been used to steal credit card information.
Skimming is the theft of payment card information used in an otherwise legitimate transaction. The thief can procure a victim’s card number using basic methods such as photocopying receipts or more advanced methods such as using a small electronic device (skimmer) to swipe and store hundreds of victims’ card numbers.
“My Apple Bank Visa debit card has never been used anywhere except at that ATM machine,” the person told COLlive.com on Monday. “But someone managed to make fraudulent withdrawals at three different banks using a fake card, and with knowledge of my PIN no.”
He said that he has gone to the bank to report the fraudulent charges and met another 2 customers who reported the same problem.
“The security breach is most likely at their on-site ATM,” he said, noting that the branch manager David Schwartz admitted that this “was most likely.”
But when COLlive.com contacted Schwartz for further information, he refused to discuss the matter and abruptly hung up the phone.
Another bank employee, however, told COLlive that this hasn’t been an isolated incident and in fact, there were other such cases reported at Apple Bank.
NYPD Detective Vincent Martinos said in response: “We can’t verify at this time any skimmer was used but so far the few reports that were made looks like Apple Bank is the common denominator, so we are certainly looking into the possibility of one.”
its time to leave this bank and sign up with chase
the best bank over all
they need to up their security. There were robberies, card theft,…….. people should take a hint and stay away form apple bank
Tug on the ATM before you put your card in.
The service isn’t any better elsewhere. Maybe it’s in all jewish neighborhoods. I have 2 accounts in Boro Pk, and the service there is terrible as well. One 13th Ave bank there are 5 people walking back and forth behind the windows, but only one window is open for business.
we should stop banking there is these people can’t offer us the basic trustworthy services and decent customer service that is offered in every other bank around the country
Apple bank is notorious for having terrible service, no surprise they hung up on you
BS”D # 6 be thankful you didn’t have 10 million in your account, i hope by this time next year you do G-d willing
I thought I was the only one im going to the bank tomorrow to report it someone took out 500 dollars from my saving using ATM, fraud company notified me. I have no clue how this person got my pin! THERE MUST BE BETTER SECURITY MEASURES TAKEN!

Great class action lawsuit $!!!!
This ATM has always been problematic. I once tried to take out hundreds & the receipt came out – with no money. Took weeks to get it back. And how many times has this bank been robbed? It is a neighborhood joke.
And to think that I paid the extra dollar to take money out at the Apple ATM machine Instead of one of those Street ATM machines because I thought it was more secure.
BS”D
never heard the word used like that
new age new meaning for the same word, in the old days it used to mean what cash businesses do-skimmed of the top
