Chassidim have said that since the Rebbe had a Nishomah of Atzilus so he would not shake in any part of davening as the “bitul” to the “or” was very strong. Similarly we are told not to shake during Shmonah Esrai because that is the climax of the davening that reaches the level of Atzilus as well.

My teacher Mrs. Schaffer once told us that if we watch the Rebbe davening we would see that he stood completely still while davening, and even w hen necessary to bow it was not ‘dramatic’ like some people.
