Synagogues and Jewish centers in Nashville, Tennessee, are on high alert after a bullet was shot into the front window of the West End Synagogue in Nashville on Monday morning.
Police are still working to figure out the motive and find the gunman responsible for the 8:30 AM shooting, WSMV is reporting. No one was injured, and police said they do not believe the building or staff is facing any imminent threats.
Nevertheless, police are taking precautions, and sent patrol units to local Jewish buildings, including the Rohr Chabad House at Vanderbilt University, a home-away-from-home for Jewish students.
The Jewish Federation of Nashville said Jewish institutions are implementing heightened security measures and that they are in constant communication with police to follow up on the incident and to ensure security until it is certain there is not a continuing threat.
“Police are protecting all Jewish organizations as a precaution and safety,” Chabad Rabbi Shlomo Rothstein told COLlive.com, noting that there aren’t additional details about the incident.
He said the Sinai Scholars class scheduled for Tuesday will be held as planned. “I spoke to the police about having more patrol during our Shabbos dinners for students and they were willing to accommodate,” Rothstein said.
Coming from a busy season that included welcoming a new baby boy and Pesach seders, Rabbi Rothstein said he is worried about the state of anti-Semitism. “It’s part of a disturbing trend around the world. Once, you could have said it was isolated events. Unfortunately, this seems to be happening more and more.”
The incident was reported to the police and FBI.
Don Aaron, spokesman of the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department, said: “We have been in contact with the FBI, the state Fusion Center. It is very safe to say that Jewish institutions in Davidson County, as well as the region, will have a stepped-up law enforcement watch beginning now and for the foreseeable future.”

Time to teach use of firearms to Shluchim , including Uzzi’s etc and arm every Chabad house worldwide to the teeth.
We are in a war zone with Islamic Extremists.

The NYPD is a fine police department but they have nothing to do with the investigation of the Nashville firing incident or the protection being offered Jewish institutions by the Nashville, Tennessee police. Your thanks, in this instance, should be directed to them.
“……..Frankly, in the current environment I think every Jew should get trained and obtain a firearm…….”
And have a valid passport at all times.
I took my kids today and we were a few minutes early so the outside school gate was still locked. The parents milling about with their children were frantic to be let in , lest anything cv happen to a waiting crowd. It’s terrible.
Just 20 years ago, the Jews of Europe did not believe that their would be a time when Jewish shops and synagogue would need constant protection from the army, that children would need armed guards escorting them to school, BUT IT HAPPENED.
it happened mainly due to the massive immigration of Muslims to Europe.(i’m in no way blacklisting all Muslim)
and according to the latest reports, Muslim immigration to America is up and continuing to rise, so we all have to ask yourself why can’t it happen here?!
Yes, there was an NRA convention. Did you know that people who acquire firearms legally are statistically MORE law-abiding than the general public? In places where concealed carry is legal many times gun owners protect the innocent. Just the other day in Houston a gun owner tackled a bank robber and held him at bay until the police arrived. (He did not shoot him, just trained the gun on him to keep him cooperative.) Frankly, in the current environment I think every Jew should get trained and obtain a firearm. The gemara says “If someone is coming to kill you,… Read more »
All chabad houses you must install good cameras.

They just had a gun convention there.. Hummm
I could save them a lot of work. It’s the same motive that is responsible for every other incident we’ve heard of lately against anything Jewish all over the world.
