Australian Lubavitch tycoon and philanthropist Yosef Gutnick has recently launched an attack on White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel, senior advisor David Axelrod and other Jews in the Obama Administration.
In a round of meetings in Israel, Gutnick raised caution during one of them of the loyalty of these Jewish officials to the state of Israel.
“The situation today is that there are Jews who don’t like Israel and are surrounding the U.S. President Barack Obama, ” Gutnick told the Gerer Rebbe, Rabbi Yaakov Aryeh Alter, in a meeting right after Shabbos.
“This is a great calamity,” Gutnick added.
The Gerer Rebbe was said to nod his head in agreement.
The son of an Israeli who is a former Irgun (National Military Organization) fighter, Emanuel is today one of the strongest men in the White House after President Obama.
Emanuel recently said in a closed meeting: “The task of forming an international coalition to thwart Iran’s nuclear program will be made easier if progress is made in peace negotiations between Israel and the Palestinians.”
Israeli TV stations had reported that Emanuel had actually linked the two matters, saying that the efforts to stop Iran hinged on peace talks with the Palestinians.
Gutnick revealed that he has met with his old friend, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu this past week.
Making his rounds in Israel in the last week, Gutnick has visited the Mayanot Institute in Israel with the Chief Rabbi Yona Metzger, and visited the Tzeirei Hashluchim Yeshiva in Tzfas.
He also met with the Rebbe of Toldos Avraham Yitzchak, whose son-in-law was murdered in the Chabad House of Mumbai. Gutnick has investments in India.
With what happened in Gaza with Hamas militarizing the beautiful land that Gush Katif possessed its bizzare that USA, especially Emanuel would not say peace with the so called Palestinians is impossible. G-d sees the truth and glad our Rebbis and people of influence are speaking out for world peace. Without peace in Israel I agree its hard to achieve peace anywhere—-but we need one Land of Israel and the Arabs have plenty of their own land to divide among their bretheren.
good to see that he got his following back. must be hard times on the shluchim
I lost lot of money buying Great central mines in 1993
At least, maybe some money went for tzedaka
#19, well said!!
to #18 You can express your opinions if you like its a free country but there is a way of wording things, some of these comments are written in a nasty manner and these people are obviousely bitter and yes, jealous and maybe a little bored and quick to judge others instead of focusing on themselves. Noone’s “grabbing” the Rebbe into anything. There is nothing wrong with someone pointing out that Yossel had a close relationship with the Rebbe. On the contrary, it should make you stop for a second and realize that he should be respected for the relationship… Read more »
why is it that , so often, when one expresses his/her views regarding an issue, or an individual in the “news,” that others may not agree with, he/she is accoused of being JEALOUS? If you want your name and picture in the news, you gotta be big enough to accept some negative feedback, even if it hurts a little. don’t be a cry baby ever time one touches your ego a bit. Also, why must you always grag the Rebbe into it. An individuals issues and relationship with the Rebbe (past and present), is between that individual and the Rebbe. Lets… Read more »
your 100% right!
Jealous Jealous Jealous
Be careful what you say about a massive ba-al tzedokeh!
You are all simply jealous, get out there and DO something with yourselves instead of badmouthing a fellow lubavitcher, and someone whom the Rebbe loved and trusted!
Go Gutnick!
Make signs and plaques before he donates and lets hope that he will give a couple bucks once he sees his name up there…
is gutnick for real, or is he just a silly guy? Or…..perhaps he shoots from the hip just for the sake of “shock rock” to get his name in the papers (web-sites). and who listens to him anyway?!?!?!?
He can hire someone with brains to prevent him from issuing such stupid statements.
It is known (also to Gutnick), that The Rebbe has told Israeli politicians, on a number of occassions, not to dump the blame on the U.S. for Israels security and other problems. The Rebbe told them clearly, that making the U.S. a scape-goat, will not help Israel. Rather, he told them, to look deeper into themselves, not play games and politics and muster the courage to do what is good for Israel and its people. If Gutnick has ever had, or still has (which I seriously doubt) , any influence on any member of the Israeli government, he should, without… Read more »
why do u care???????????????????????
why is every single thing yossel does posted on the intenet…if it was about giving tzeokoh…than it would be understandable…but just about his personal opinion on plitics he shared wih someone..why does it have o be posted..leave the poor guy alone…
hmm whom may you be?
As an American living in America I hope Mr. Emmanuel is doing what he can to better our country and our important alliances and relationships – including Israel.
Unfortunately as liberals their success equals the disengration of American greatness ans prosperity.
It is silly to deride an American politician for maintaing policies favored by a massive portion of ther Israeli electorate.
Our job is to promote or oppose ideas – not people.
Syug lachochma shtika.
Was Kissinger considered “loyal”? If not, what harm has he done during his tenure? I mean, do these people really have the ability to change things like the relationship with Israel? I remember President Ford when he said he’ll revalue the friendship with Israel. What happened? Nada
What a brainless thing to say!
As far as I can recall, it is your friend Bibi who has proven not to be loyal to Israel, over and over.
Amazing how people shape their opinions according to convince.
Rahm Emanuel is a good yid and we all hope will do the right thing for his country and his people.
A shliach in Illinois
what a dumb thing to say about emanuel. does he know what goes on behind closed doors. yossel this time arround be diplomatic and more professional.
Rabbi Gutnick-keep in mind that the more you run after the Kovod the kovod will just run away from you, Pirke Avot.Don’t make so much out of yourself. Be Well.
