Dear staff of JEM,
I was in a Lubavitcher shul recently on a Motzoei Shabbos. The minyan was finishing Aleinu and the gabbai started to adjust the video projector, as has become the custom in Chabad.
Preparing to watch the weekly Living Torah video magazine, I overheard one Yungerman standing with his young son and making a comment to a friend while swinging his gartel.
As a bochur, willing to hear what those older than me have to say, his simple comment had me ponder the point he made, as the intro niggun started to play loudly on the speakers.
“I think JEM is our most important moisad today,” was the remark he made. His friend nodded in obvious agreement.
I preface my letter with this story to point out that I believe every chossid and member of the Chabad community should feel, and indeed some already do, that they owe the good people at JEM a real debt of gratitude.
Although the chassidim whom I heard talking already have kids, and are of a generation that for some time, whether a year or two or even more, were there in person to witness the events you bring us today, they still seem to feel they owe a debt to you.
Therefore, I decided that as a bochur approaching my 20th birthday this month, I should write you all a thank you.
To those of you who work now, and who worked in the past, to bring my peers and I video and audio of our dear Rebbe, so that we too may see, hear, and understand, both him and the Torah he taught, I thank you humbly and truly for all you’ve done.
Yours most sincerely, a Mendel (born Nun Hey).

We cannot forget to mention that Sholom Goldstein and the Goldstein family donated thousands of hours of footage from the archives of rabbi Yosef Goldstein OBM starting with the frierdiker rebbes levaya and the first farbrengens of the rebbe . Rabbi Yosef categorized and put it all in an order . It was all donated less than two years ago so there is/ will be an explosion of new things coming out IYH
Doing a great job
Perhaps you would be kind enough to share this collection with the rest of us?
the writer spoke for me and for all of us, so many times I wish I can express my thanks to JEM directly!!
I wish I had the money that they would never have to worry about raising funds again.
When I was a Bochur, I loved to collect pictures from The Rebbe, and kept them in an album which grew from year to year. I began to collect in 1958 and by 1970 the collection was massive. I even went to offices in Manhattan to buy precious (and expensive) pictures from the photogrofers that used to freequent 770. But many Mashpi-im told me, this is Chitzoiniyus, and Bitul Tora. Today I do not regret this at all. Close to 1,000 unique pictures, which when viewing them they never become boring. They not only bring back the original memories from… Read more »
Lets remember that JEM is working with materials that others brought to them. Whether its WLCC or the Goldstein family archives and many others who were kind enough to share with the world what they had captured of The Rebbe, whether in Audio or Video or old fashioned 8mm movie films. All above bring The Rebbe closer to us vividly by hearing and seeing LIVE, and obviously to bring this into action. So while we all applaud and appreciate what JEM is doing, lets also thank all those who brought, and will bring precious moments of The Rebbe to the… Read more »
please release everything you have at once!!! let it be like the open source model (a new wave of how many network/programing companies operate), basically the entire collection of videos gets released at once and as chassidim find clips they feel is more connected to that time of year or etc they will post it..perhaps down the line will talk about a Rabbi G or Dovid M (examples) who seem to keep placing the most unique finds from the collections.
Jem is my connection to the rebbe if I’m having a hard day I’ll go on to my living torah app
you remind me what happen by yarchei kala in gan yisrael one year
rabbi pinson said we need to give rabbi shemtov the credit
rabbi pinchas hirshprog got up after him and said dont give rabbi shemtov credit
give him cash
By contributing to JEM, on a monthly basis is a way to show gratitude to them for the great work that they are doing, so let us all try and give even a little bit, which will add up to a lot.
A strong supporter of JEM in my own way of what ever I can give. So please help me and all the other supporters of JEM.
And a big Yasher Koach to Elkono Smotkin, for his tireless work.
I was Born Mem Ches and I’m Proud to have recieved a Dollar
and thanks to Jem I can retrieve my Photo with the Rebbe!
I was so sure this would be another complaint, it’s nice to see a positive open letter.
I identify with what this bochur writes.
As a Shliach in a far away land, I, too, agree with this sentiment. JEM has given me access to guidance and direction from the Rebbe when needed most.
We also have to remember who had the vision and put up the millions of $ to record and broadcast live all these Farbregens: the Elkaim Family from FL. They wanted to share the Rebbe’s message worldwide and no one knew there would be a Gimmel Tammuz, but now it’s our generation who lives with the Rebbe thanks to them…
And his devoted staff: you guys are the BEST!
we owe them $$$!!! For all the hours they put in this!
And all the hours they put in this!
And all the hours they put in this!
Thank you Mendel for sharing and thank you jem
But nevertheless as it’s quoted in the rebbe torah
ההתקשרות האמיתית היא על ידי לימוד תורתו
Jem definitely makes it easier but we gotta work…
U to was born in תשנ”ה
A Bochur born just months after Gimmel Tammuz. I agree fully. I can’t think what we would do if not for JEM.
