Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu boarded a plane Sunday morning heading to Washington, DC, in a trip that has been vocally opposed by the administration of President Barack Obama.
Netanyahu is scheduled to address the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC) annual policy conference on Monday before address a joint session of Congress on Tuesday.
He is expected to focus on the dangers of Iran developing a nuclear program and criticize the current negotiations between 6 major countries and Iran, which he says threatens Israel.
Republican House Speaker John Boehner invited him to give his 3rd address to Congress, without consulting the House Democrats and the White House. Obama said he won’t meet Netanyahu noting the proximity to the elections in Israel.
Netanyahu visited the Kotel in Jerusalem before the trip and said: On the eve of my trip to the U.S., I came here to the Western Wall. As Prime Minister, it is my obligation to see to the security of Israel; therefore, we strongly oppose the agreement being formulated with Iran and the major powers, which could endanger our very existence.”
He said that “In the face of this danger we must unite and also explain the dangers stemming from this agreement, to Israel, to the region and to the world.”
Before boarding his place to Washington on Sunday, Netanyahu stood alongside his wife Sarah and said: “A few days before the Fast of Esther, I am leaving for Washington on a fateful, even historic, mission. I feel that I am the emissary of all Israelis, even those who disagree with me, of the entire Jewish People.
He added, “I am deeply and genuinely concerned for the security of all Israelis, for the fate of the nation, and for the fate of our people and I will do my utmost to ensure our future.”
I don’t believe that Bibi has or has ever had any intention of bombing Iran. He isn’t 1/100000th of the man that Menachem Begin was.
There is a game being played here, and it’s called good-cop, bad-cop. Bibi is playing the bad cop, and Obama the good cop. They are hoping that this will persuade Iran to cease their nuclear program.

I think there are different types of leadership: rabbinic leadership and lay leadership. Obviously, he’s not rabbinic, but there are elements of clear lay leadership. From the world’s point of view, he is a speaker for the Jewish people.
Anything that may help save and protect the nation of Israel is not only highly appropriate, but it is mandatory to be done. Preservation of Jewish lives comes before any other concerns.
Also, please try to spell correctly. It will make it easier for us, as readers, to try and follow your misguided thought process.
And it was highly inappropriate for Esther to enter King Achashveirosh’s royal chambers uninvited, but for over 2500 years Jews have CELEBRATED this because through this Haman was exposed and we survived his “Final Solution.” WHO CARES ABOUT THIS POLITICAL POSTURING??? WE ARE TALKING ABOUT ISRAEL’S SURVIVAL FROM THE HAMAN OF OUR TIMES!! (And don’t think Iran doesn’t have you and me and every Jew in its cross-hairs, too).
We must stand together with our brothers and sisters in Israel, not buy into this political nonsense which misses the point!
Two points: 1. Currently, in Israel there are a significant amount of members of Obama’s campaign team who are openly, actively working to bolster the labor party in the current election. There is no shame amongst the current white house administration. While they are over their openly campaigning, in the name of the White House against Bibi, the congress is not campaigning for Bibi, rather showing support to moral ideology. 2. This is a Chabad website. Chassidus teaches us to probe beneath the surface. It is quite shallow to think that Bibi’s visit is solely for political purposes. Unfortunately, this… Read more »
You are right !
The Rebbe cared for him and we should duven for Binyamin be Tzila , for Hatzlocha !
According to wikipedia his mother’s name was Tzila, I think we should say Tehillim that Hashem should give him hatzlocha rabba in his speech.
It is hiohly inappropriate for the US congress to invite a foreigh politician to speak, just days before an election when this politician is running for office. It was inappropriate when Clinton campaigned for Peres against Netanyahu, and it is inappropriate for the Congress to campaign for Netanyahu against his opponents.
The US Senate on Thursday passed a *unanimous* resolution welcoming Netanyahu and endorsing his address to Congress!
netanyahu calls himself the leader of the jewish people but doesnt even put on a kippah
