Dovid Faynberg, a Jewish youth group leader in Rostov, Russia, celebrated his wedding in true Chassidic style this week, acting as a role model for the large number of young people in attendance.
It was a decision he made while visiting the home of the Rebbe Rashab in Rostov on the day of his yartzeit, the 20th of Cheshvan. He told friends that he would get married and have a chuppah this year.
His fiance, Yehudit, of Dnepropetrovsk, Ukraine, completed her professional studies in Austria and she is already an important member of the Rostov community, sharing divrei Torah and inspiring others with her knowledge.
Following the decision, they traveled traveled all the way to the Rebbe’s Ohel in Queens, New York, where they decided upon a date to wed.
For many of the guests at the wedding this weel, it was their first experience at a kosher wedding and chuppah, where even the musical entertainment was chassidic, performed by a musician flown in especially from Israel.
The couple’s many friends in the community were there to partake in the celebration. Dovid is the Chairman of ‘Rosh Tov’, an active and successful youth group in Rostov. His energy and dedication has helped the group reach and influence a few hundred of Rostov’s students.
“Dovid helped build up our club to such an extent that it is an example for other communities in Russia,” said Rabbi Chaim Danzinger, Shliach in Rostov who officiated the wedding. “His wedding was a real inspiration to the youth club members who are here.”
A sense of awe stirred the crowd, hearing the powerful melody of the Alter Rebbe’s niggun sung under the chuppah. Visiting guests and rabbis who traveled from far and near were honored with the brochos.
Among them were Rabbi Shmuel Aharonov of Essen, Germany, Rabbi Mendy Wilansky and Rabbi Moshe Rochlin of Moscow, and Yanky Ascher from New York.
Special guests who traveled all the way from New York to attend this simcha were businessman Rabbi Menachem and Dini Gurevitch and Rabbi Yossi Gurevitch, whose influence and support made this simcha a reality.
Syeva, is a new member of the community who had first arrived at the shul five months ago. He joined the youth group and came to the wedding.
A few days later at a Sheva Brochos he shared with all the participants that the chuppah moved him so deeply he made a decision to have a brit milah and take on the Jewish name Gavriel.
Желаем счастья!
Great work Mendy!!
You guys are the best
Many of our Russian brethren are truly deep thinkers. So nice that the chosson/kallah’s decision to get married k’deen v’k’das made another young man think about his Jewish identity deeply enough to commit to a bris milah. Mazel tov to the glowing chosson/kallah; mazel tov to the man who committed to undergo bris’o shel Avram Aveinu. Continued good things to all, both spiritually and materially.
